Is the busy very busy from trieste to rijeka. We need to travel on a Monday at the end of June which means the buses are limited and I am concerned we will not get tickets if we only arrive in Trieste the same morning.
You should be fine since there are several departures per day and more departures than usual since it is already a summer season. Plus, most Italians coming to Croatia use their cars - either by driving or taking the ferry to Dalmatia. Buses were mostly used by tourists taking cheap flights to Trieste or Venice; with several budget airlines now flying directly to Croatia even this has changed..... The bus timetable is here: saf.ud.it/cms/data/pages/fil... In an unlikely case there is no place on a bus to Rijeka try buses that go to western coast of Istria - Umag, Porec or Rovinj. It will be easier to reach Rijeka from there than from Trieste.
