1 Day in Richmond

I have a 1 day/1 night visit. Is there an "old Town" to walk around or another place to wander around and see. And any suggestions for a place to stay downtown.

    if you have a auto, stay at the Omni or Marrott is pricey. Yet Zrichmond walking area would be the Fan or Musuem district and there is downtown Shockhoe Slip, but for good access and sites a car is needed.
