    • Help choosing a village?!

by lmh3 Online Now Feb 28, 2015 at 4:10 AM

      Hi All,

My partner and I will be visiting Rhodes for just over 2 weeks towards the end of May and are struggling to find the best place to stay.

We will be hiring a car and planning on exploring to find secluded more intimate beaches but love the history and hustle and bustle of the old town. We want to stay clear of the new town but since we will have a car to park are concerened about booking to stay in the old town.

We were thinking about villages just outside of the old town so we can travel in in the afternoon/evenings. Does anyone have any suggestions of alternative ideas?

We aren't big fans of built up resorts and ideally want to stay in a traditional but nice b&b??

      No amount of research seems to answer our questions :{

      Thanks in advanced
      Lauren :)

by Mavo1 Online Now Jul 15, 2014 at 12:06 AM

Hi, I'm planning on coming to Rhodes next June or July for around 4 or 5 days.
By what I've read it seems Rhodes town would be the best place to stay in Rhodes.
I also want to visit Lindos. What is the best way to go there and what part of day is best to go?
What is the beach like there? like the town or better?
Also what are some good things to do? sightseeing? or even water sports?
Also I noticed that there are donkey rides in Lindos, is that worth doing?
I'm a young adult 20 years old so a bit of a night buzz would be good to.
      thanks

by Mavo1 Online Now Jul 7, 2014 at 5:19 AM

Hi am trying to choose from these three locations in Rhodes. Which is best for young adults and would get the most out of? I will probably visit all of them but I just need to find a base. Is it possible to organise accommodation in each of them or is that not wise and just stick with the one?

by Mavo1 Online Now Jul 6, 2014 at 11:51 PM

Hi I am thinking of coming to Rhodes next year around June. I was wondering what is the best way to get there as it is far from Athens. I also might be going to a couple of the Cyclades islands. Are they close to Rhodes or would you need to fly? What part of Rhodes should I look at for accommodation and what sort of accommodation?
I am looking for nice relaxation as well as some fun during the night. How is it getting around the island, what sort of transport?
This is for 2 adults early 20's.
      thank you

Where to Stay - Arriving 3AM Ferry

by haysnoe Online Now Jun 7, 2014 at 12:05 PM

Our ferry arrives in Rhodes at 3AM. I am sure that I am not going to be the first person who needed a place to stay after arriving on that ferry. Can I rely on being greeted at the ferry with a room, or should I try to book something? Problem is, most hotels I see have posted check-in up to about Midnight.
Many, or most, of the people getting off that ferry at 3 in the morning must need a place to stay. What do you think?

      transportation

by hillelarkin Online Now Apr 2, 2014 at 8:12 PM

We plan a family reunion meeting in Faliraki, Rhodes (12-14 persons, 3 babies). I have several questions regarding transportation:
      1) Is there a taxi service from the airport to Faliraki (Ladico Beach) and how much it ca cost
      2) Is there a service of hiring a van/ minivan with driver for a day trip around the island and how much it may cost?
      3) taxi service cost from Faliraki to Rhodes old city: does it operate on late nights?

      Thanks - HA

by candelle Online Now Oct 3, 2013 at 4:12 PM

      HI

We visited beautiful Rhodes Town last year and had a wonderful time sight-seeing and walking and walking and.. well, you get the drift!

Could anyone suggest other things to do near Rhodes Town as we'll be there again soon - but unfortunately, only for one day.

Last time, we din't find the Acropolis which I understand is there, would that be a suggestion? Could you advise how far it is from the town - we'll be on foot.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestion.

by MeganAnderson Online Now Apr 14, 2013 at 2:47 PM

Is there luggage storage at the main port? We arrive very early and can't get on our cruise ship to the afternoon, so it would be great to be able to leave our luggage secure some where close to port or old town so we can take a look around. We don't want to leave it at the airport as it's too far away.

      Entering Greece through Rhodes

by stamporama Online Now Apr 7, 2012 at 1:47 AM

I'm planning a trip to Turkey and Greece in Sept. and I learned that instead of flying from Istanbul to Athens, one may choose to ride a catamaran from Marmaris to Rhodes and maybe start our Greek journey from there. Since the end of our Turkey trip will likely find us in the southwest coast, this seems to be a practical move.

May I know if this is a good option? Are the passport/customs control in Rhodes any different from the Athens airport? And is it easy enough to get ferry rides from Rhodes to the other islands (like Santorini and Mykonos) and onwards to Piraeus?

      Thanks for any reply.
