Farm Holidays

My husband and I will be in Rekjavik Sept 20 thru Sept 25 and are considering a Farm Holiday self drive tour. Has anyone done the South Explorer or a similar tour? Are the roads fairly easiy to navigate? We do not want to spend all of our time in a car looking for our destinations. We are good travellers and enjoy being on our own schedule. Does antone have any other ideas? Thanks. Msswanny

Welcome! Iceland is pretty easy for driving around. South is the most developed part and many of the musts are here. If you do not plan to go into highlands you can do with a regular car. Maps are available in every gas stations and almost everyone speaks English. No chance to get lost. Hotels and guest houses are always available and it is ok to book just a few hours before arrival or just look for a place to stay when the evening comes.
