In serbia (Belgrade) for 16 hours do i really need to register

by oznztofro Online Now Oct 26, 2011 at 2:15 AM

I read somewhere on wikitravel and other websites you have to register with the police within 24 hours from getting a Serbian entry stamp. Im only going to be in Belgrade for 16 hours or so and then ill be on a train to Bucharest without staying a night in Accommodation. If i do have the register (Eu citizen) what do i need to bring to the Police Station and how long would it take.

I think the idea behind this one is to get the local authorities know about your whereabouts. For a short stay like that, I don't think there is any compulsory action to be taken. Just enjoy your stay over there :)

You have effectively answered your own question. When I was there earlier this year the hostel told me about the 24 hour rule, but if you are not going to be there for 24 hours there is no problem. For information, I am a British citizen. As Keti says, it is a shame you are not staying in Belgrade, it is a great city, I loved it there.
