We are considering spending a few days in what seems to be a beautiful and perhaps untouched country in May. Is this a recommended destination that offers both adventurous sightseeing and time for relaxation too? Which areas would you recommend that we definatley visit and why and approximately for how long? WHat is the temperature like at this time of year? ARe pullovers recommended, jackets or bathing custumes? Excuse my ignorance but I come from a relativily warm country all year round. How long do we need in montenegro (minimum number of days) Thanks so much
I thought you were going to the Italian lakes? Whilst you are waiting for replies from other VT-ers you might like to explore the Vt pages about Montenegro: Republic of Montenegro Travel Guide They will give you an idea about where to stay and what you might see and do. The climate varies according to where you are in Montenegro but these sites will give you a rough idea of what you might expect: discover-montenegro.com/Clim... montenegro-adventures.com/mo...

well we sailed into the Kotor fjords and berthed at Kotor. We were up at 5am to see the most amazing views as we came in from the sea. Then we visited Budva.....my reaction....before we had even left I wanted to go back. and I know there is much more to discover. There are some photos here "Our Introduction to Montenegro" - Kotor by wise23girl and a "travelogue" with photos of the fjords..... The photo near my name was taken near Budva last year.

We'd like to explore about three neighboring countries on our honeymoon ;-)At the moment I"m looking into different avenues, however exloring the length of Italy down to the Amalfi coast is definitly on our cards. We just need to consider how many days we will spend in each place and use the final few days in one place for some R&R. Do you have any oth suggestions? (3 week holiday in total) :-) i look forward to assistance from the montenegro and of course Italian forums :-)

Lovely though Montenegro sounds, it is really nowhere near Italy. Can I suggest you investigate Italy + Switzerland + Slovenia..or Italy + Austria + Slovenia? Or Italy + Slovenia + Croatia? Slovenia is a tiny jewel of a country, often overlooked but with a huge variety of landscape, lots of history, superb wine and excellent food. But, to be honest, you could very easily spend all 3 weeks in Italy and see only a fraction of it. If you are allowing yourselves only a week then you will be hard pressed to include the Amalfi Coast *and* the Lakes. Don't be misled by apparent map distances. Even though Italy has an excellent railway network it does take time to travel from place to place...and each place has *so* much to explore.
