My partener and myself are hoping to go to his daughters wedding in Brittany next August.He has MS and walks with a triangular walking aide We are in our 60's but are quite fit otherwise. We have booked to fly into Rennes airport from Dublin on the 7th August 2012 and are staying in theNovotel Thaiassa hotel in Dinard as the wedding is near Dinard inLePontbriand. Could someone suggest the best means of transport for us. Thanking you
Unfortunately there is no train station in Dinard now, so the easiest would be take a taxi or bus (not sure if the bus service runs out to the airport) from Rennes-St. Jacques into Rennes station. Take the TER train up to St. Malo where you can catch a bus into Dinard or once again a taxi. BTW, Le Pontbriand is in Pleurtuit not Dinard. It's about 8kms from your hotel. You'll probably need a taxi again to get out there as there is no bus service to there and also the Novotel Thalassa hotel is not in the centre of Dinard, unless of course you have someone to pick you up.It's a pity you don't fly into Dinard-Pleurtuit airport as it's a 10 minute walk from there. Let me know if you need anything else, I live about 10 kms from there.

A good answer from 'home territory' there. There is a bus service from Rennes centre to Dinard - see service 7 from this link: http://www.illenoo-services.fr/ As you'll see, the bus takes about 2 hours from Rennes to Dinard, contrasting with about 1 hour for the train from Rennes to St Malo. That same bus company also operates buses between St Malo and Dinard. There is a boat service between St Malo and Dinard but access to it isn't great so I would not recommend that. By the time you've completed the journey there possibly won't be a lot of difference between the journey times. Hope it all works out well for you.

Yes the ferry link between St. Malo and Dinard is a good one, only problem is getting to the pier, and even then in Dinard the pier over there is far from your hotel.

dont know the cost you should check for taxi service or shuttle, and contact the tourist office for suggestion on travel too. Once from your hotel in novotel to le ponbriand, ask the hotel for ideas too, the Novotel is very good chain. as pfsmalo has given direction been closer than I tothat area;
