    • camping nr Vernon and train to Paris

      France Yesterday

We want to stay for a few nights at a camp site nr Vernon or Evreux , leave the car at the camp site and travel into Paris on the train and stay overnight. Can anyone recommend a good camp site with easy access to a station. We need to be happy that the car and caravan will be secure if we are leaving them unattended for the night. We have looked at Les Andelys but not sure how easy it would be to get too and from the station without the car. Any advice gratefully received.

Oh... were to go in Brittany???

      Bretagne Apr 26, 2013 at 3:46 AM

      Hi All,
I have never been to France, a friend is recommending Brittany for our first time. We intend on using the ferry to cross from Dover to Calais, we will be driving.
I have spent around 6 hours this week trying to work out a rout that will show us some interesting sights/places/towns/beaches, but oh my words! I am more confused than when I started, can anyone recommend a rout or a book that has routs in France to follow.
Thank you so much for your help

      GR20

      Corsica May 17, 2013 at 3:44 PM

      Hello!
Id like to walk the famous gr20 track but I probably wont be able to spend 15 days for walking so I have to decide which part of it to take, northen or southen. I was thinking of walking the northen part from Calenzana to Vizzavona.
      1. Has anyone taken it? How was it? Difficoulty in a scale from 1 to 10 where 1 is a walk on a beach and 10 is the hardest track one can imagine?
      2. How many refuges were there? Can you camp on the track?
      3. What about food? Is it best to take lyophilisated food or can you buy some food in small villages on the track
      4. Im planning to go there in september, is it a good time?
      5. How to get there the cheapest way? Plane/ferry/car/train? (excluding hitchhiking)
      Thanks for your help! :)

      Champagne tours

by Turska Online Now May 3, 2010 at 5:51 AM

There seems to be many champagne-houses in Reims. And some of them have tours, you can join. If we would visit one, which one would you suggest us to choose? -It should be possible to visit without booking ahead (because we don´t know the time when we could visit) -It should have an English tour.(We like those tours with info about champagne-making) -It should be open on saturday And of course,it wouldn´t hurt,if there is a tasting-(I guess most of them have it) and we haven´t never tasted champagne!!! I mean we have tasted cava and prosecco, but not champagne. In cava and prosecco we choose usually semi-dry or sometimes dry.Not those VERY dry or sweet ones. We have visited port-wine caves in Porto (and we don´t even like port..) and many brewerys,whiskey-"factory",some winery.. But we haven´t seen any place with any kind of sparkling wine.

My husband and I will be visiting Reims later this year. We will be traveling by train and don't plan to have a car. We would like to visit some of the champagne houses for tastings, but from what we can tell, many of the champagne houses are 2-3 kilometers from the city center (for example, Pommery, Veuve-Clicquot, and Ruinart). Are there any organized tours in Reims that visit several of the houses, or perhaps visitng both Reims and Epernay, providing the transportation to them? (I know there are day tours from Paris; ideally, we'd like to find something similar in Reims.) If not, is it practical to visit them by taxi?
