    • Questions about transportation within Saint-Tropez

      Saint-Tropez Jan 23, 2016 at 7:27 PM

      Hi there,

I was wondering if there is anyone who has stayed in Saint-Tropez and has experience/advice to offer about traveling once you're in the city.

I have heard, like most people, that getting in a taxi and/or renting a car could be a total disaster with all of the traffic.

Most of our travel plans within Saint-Tropez include the Pampelonne beach, and we have a reservation at Nikki Beach, and maybe a winery. I was wondering if there are any ferries that would take you from the main harbor to Nikki Beach or somewhere in that vicinity? In other words, are there other ways to travel to this side of bay rather than getting in a car?

      Thank you!
      Alyssa

      TMB Lodging Part 2

      Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Jan 27, 2016 at 10:40 AM

So it's, been about a month since my last question, and now I'm curious if anyone has recommendations for a company that would book lodging for us? I usually enjoy the planning bit of trips, but I'm over it on this one! I think I'd rather pay a little more and have someone who knows what they are doing plan where we will be sleeping.

I've spent the morning searching for sites, and all seem pretty similar in their offerings. Looks like the "self guided tour" is what I'd have to end up going with. But I do already have the book and a map, and we don't want luggage transport, really just the lodging booked and in case it's needed, transport to get there. (The rest of the group has decided unless dorms have a quad room, they are a no go).

So just wondering if anyone has a service they'd recommend? (Trying to stay under $1600/person)

      Thanks :)

      Where to stay en route?

      Bayeux Jan 22, 2016 at 12:50 PM

We plan to re-visit the northern coast of Normandy after Easter and for “very” old times sake have chosen the Portsmouth - Le Havre crossing. Many of our favourite hotels in the area seem to have disappeared.

We have booked a couple of nights in a Logis de France near Fecamp but are having difficulty in choosing somewhere NOT on the coast, to stay for TWO nights between there and Bayeux. ( not in Bayeux).

We need to reach Bayeux by 3pm at the latest. All suggestions welcome . Hoping for a place, small town , with some historical interest - ancient and modern- and a good family run Logis style hotel with a good restaurant.

Suggestions for itinerary in June with kids

      Hi everyone!
We are a family of 4 ( 2 kids: 5 and 7) and will have 10 days for a drive from Nice to Barcelona. We were thinking of spending 3 nights in Nice and around, and then renting a car and heading west. Our focus is France, we will be only flying out of Barcelona, and not planning to spend any time there this time.
We wouldn't mind splitting our time between two ( or 3?) french towns (Nice and ?) so we don't feel too rushed. Any suggestions are welcome!

      Champagne tours

by Turska Online Now May 3, 2010 at 5:51 AM

There seems to be many champagne-houses in Reims. And some of them have tours, you can join.

If we would visit one, which one would you suggest us to choose?
-It should be possible to visit without booking ahead (because we don´t know the time when we could visit)
-It should have an English tour.(We like those tours with info about champagne-making)
-It should be open on saturday

And of course,it wouldn´t hurt,if there is a tasting-(I guess most of them have it) and we haven´t never tasted champagne!!! I mean we have tasted cava and prosecco, but not champagne. In cava and prosecco we choose usually semi-dry or sometimes dry.Not those VERY dry or sweet ones.

We have visited port-wine caves in Porto (and we don´t even like port..) and many brewerys,whiskey-"factory",some winery.. But we haven´t seen any place with any kind of sparkling wine.

by marilaine Online Now Jan 16, 2007 at 7:51 AM

My husband and I will be visiting Reims later this year. We will be traveling by train and don't plan to have a car. We would like to visit some of the champagne houses for tastings, but from what we can tell, many of the champagne houses are 2-3 kilometers from the city center (for example, Pommery, Veuve-Clicquot, and Ruinart). Are there any organized tours in Reims that visit several of the houses, or perhaps visitng both Reims and Epernay, providing the transportation to them? (I know there are day tours from Paris; ideally, we'd like to find something similar in Reims.) If not, is it practical to visit them by taxi?
