Hi: We are on the Princess cruise from Venice to Valparaiso that docks in Valparaiso January 7. We are then heading to Con Con for a week. What is the easiest way to get from the cruise ship port to Con Con. We are willing to share the cost of a mini bus with anyone else who may be heading the same way. Sean

Hello there, I would like to go on a cruise december this year from Valparaiso to BsAs. I have found one that I like online with Holland America, but I would like to know 1) if for example closer to December the prices might be lower and 2) if I go direct to Valparaiso with a week before I might find last minute offer that is cheaper? I ve never done a cruise so I don t know how the system work here. Thank you in advance.

Our Princess cruise ship docks at Valparaiso on 7 January 2012. Is there a pier where large cruise ships usually dock? Our hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Puerto Metro Station. I can see on a Google map that there is a ship docked not far from the Puerto. Is it feasible to walk from the dock to our hotel pulling our luggage? (We did this in Venice, Italy 2 years ago with no problem.)

Hello-I checked forum and couldn't quite find answer. Am planning itinerary to Chile (lvg in a wk). I know that there are 2 bus companies that go between Valparaiso & Santiago, and I understand they leave earl enough in the morning...but want to make sure. I have a 9am flight (within Chile) and will be in Valparaiso (or Vina) the night before. (1) Will either bus company get me to Santiago in time for my 9am flight (taking into consideration taxi from bus terminal in Santiago to airport); (2) or is there another fairly economical option that doesn't involve even more transfers. I'm willing to pay a bit more than bus fare to make sure to get to airport on time, but don't really want private taxi option. Thank you!

My wife and I are on the Star Princess (Venice to Santiago) arriving Valparaiso at 5AM on January 7, 2012. Our flight to Miami leaves SCL at 12 noon on the same day. Is anyone willing to share the cost of a Van/Taxi to the Santiago Airport to arrive around 10AM or earlier?

We are looking, without success at finding ground transportation from Valparaiso (cruise terminal) to Mendoza. So far, neither Chileabout not Viator offer this route. A few other companies have not responded at all, so I guess that's a "no." Being that we'll have quite a bit of luggage, just having come off a cruise, we're trying to avoid taking transportation to Santiago, and then finding a different resource to continue to Mendoza. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What is the best way to get from our hotel in Vina del Mar to Santiago central, or to Santiago airport? One couple in our group will go directly to the airport, and wants a quick, economical method. The other couple may stay a day or two in the city before leaving the country. Many thanks. Lynn

Sorry to ask an old question, but we need to get from the port in Valparaiso to our hotel in Santiago early on January 23. We will have just come from a cruise with luggage and we do not want to take a bus. The cruise line only provides a bus transfer to the Santiago airport. Any recommendations for reliable transfer services would be appreciated.

I noticed a lot of tour companies advertise day trips to Isla Negra and Pomaire from Santiago. Is it possible for us to do something like this on our own using public transportation from Valparaiso? I see that the Pullman bus goes from Valparaiso to Isla Negra, but is there anything that goes to Pomaire? Any other suggestions for day trips from Valparaiso that can be done with public transportation? We are already planning to spend some time in the town of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.

We arrive on NCL Sun cruise ship at Valparaiso, Chile, Jan. 17. We want to stay in Santiago after our cruise. We have found no affordable transportation from Valparaiso to Santiago. How do the 4 of us get to Santiago from Valparaiso with 2 big suitcases each in an affordable way? Thanks. Jeri

My husband and I arrive by cruise ship in January 2010 and would like to look around Valparaiso before travelling to the airport. Is there anywhere we can leave our luggage before catching the bus? How often do the buses run and how long does it take to get to the airport? Also do you have to pre-book or just turn up and buy a ticket?

I have a friend who will be in Valparaiso for this coming New Year's. He read about cruises from Muelle Prat to watch the fireworks display. I read that tickets should be bought one to two weeks in advance. However, he will not arrive in Chile until 12/24 and in Valparaiso until 12/29. Is there any way for him to secure tickets for this cruise any other way in advance? Thanks.
