    • Bamberg this weekend

      Bamberg 3 hours ago

Hello! My husband and I would like to make a day trip to Bamberg from Munich this weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. But we are wondering if it's okay to do so now as there were floods earlier this month? Is the city still affected by it? Or would a trip be possible?

      Thank you!!

Road trip from Frankfurt to Prague

      Frankfurt May 20, 2013 at 9:31 AM

This is the plan for the end of October this year. Is there any "must do" or "off the beaten path" things to do along the way? We will return to Frankfurt from Prague and we will have two weeks. Part of the reason we are in Frankfurt is to visit my boyfriend's family. Thank you, in advance, for you input!

We, 2 adults and 2 kids (2 and 8 years) arrive to Munich airport on Juli, 7th 2013 and need a taxi transfer to Munich city. We found the site www.taxi-in-muenchen.com on the internet. Does someone already use the service of this firm? Can we rely on this firm? We need extra seat for the baby.

I am a 35 year old journalist photographer/ working with various magazines and will finally get my chance to visit Wasserburg am Bodensee and Lindau where my grandfather was from and the rest of my fathers family. He was a photographer, lived a very hard life, and is my main influence on my work and things I have done throughout life including my own photography career. While visiting my wife's family in Slovakia, I will finally get to go to Germany on assignment to my grandfathers home. I have held off on getting a tattoo for years - and wondered - would Germans/Bavarians think I am weird for having a Bavarian Lion on my arm symbolizing the area where my family is from? I have had one drawn up for years, but never wanted to get it until I was there. And yes it is a cool design, the one I have drawn up - just wondering about culture, not that I care what other people think, it is more of a memory thing for me....but also curious if German Culture would find it strange...I know...off the wall question for the forum. It would be combined with his name very small-

      3 day hike

      Berchtesgaden Jun 16, 2013 at 11:49 PM

      Hello,

I would kindly ask some questions about Berchtesgaden hikes.

We ordered flights to Munich 29.7 and we are plannning to go hike to Berchtesgaden 3 day trip.

How can we get from Munich to to Berchtesgaden? With train or bus and what station do we get off? Where we can find the timetables for trains or buses?

Also where we should start the 3 day hike? Where do we get map of that area? We are in good physical shape and we would like to sleep at tents or if there is some lodges.

      Thank you for the reply.
      Best regards, Antti

Hi, I am going to Garmisch for 9 days in September. I am a moderate hiker. It has been difficult from the states to find moderate day hikes from 5-8 hours in length. We would also like to spend one night in a mountain hut during one of our hikes. Can I get all responders to give me their top five hikes that fall within my criteria. I hear the hike to Mittenwald is real nice. I cannot find any books that give me this info. Thanks a bunch

Christmas markets within reach from Regensburg

by Kathrin_E Online Now Oct 23, 2012 at 10:42 AM

Planning this year's Advent trip, I'd like to ask you guys for a good recommendation for one more day trip from Regensburg. Ok so here is the plan: Base camp is Regensburg for probably 5, maybe 6 nights. Travel time is mid December, either around 2nd or 3rd Advent weekend. - 2 days for Regensburg itself and its 4 markets. - Day trip to Passau - Day trip to Landshut - Day trip to - ??? I would like a small city or a town (not Nürnberg please, have been more than once, and not Munich) with a nice Christmas market plus something to see in the town centre. Max. one hour by train from Regensburg. Preferably a place where I have not yet been - that points to directions Oberpfalz and Niederbayern and anything North and East/Southeast of Regensburg. Straubing? Weiden? Amberg? Any ideas and experiences?

by wompbomp Online Now Aug 28, 2010 at 11:18 AM

We plan on visiting for a few days in late May. I have checked various weather websites, and know to expect rain. But what is typical, if there is such a thing? Is it likely to rain all day, or are there periods of rain and then clearing? Is the rain generally heavy, or relatively light? Frequent thunderstorms? Thanks for trying to answer what may be an impossible question! Carol

I am especially interested in cities that have a medieval inner city still in tact. To those of you who have visited Regensburg: Does it have an old part or is it mainly modern? I understand that Nurnberg and Bamberg have parts that were either untouched or have been beautifully rebuilt but would appreciate information on Regensburg
