I have never been to Reading and have an entire day to myself on Tuesday - Sept 29th. Any suggestions on things to do / see?

has anyone eaten here recently? We have been many times in the past but not for several years. I wanted to take my husband there for his 50th birthday in april but the only review I could find on the net was from last november and it was dire! I don't wnat to book a special night out if it has gone downhill, but the setting is lovely ,we will be mooring outside for the night if we go, and we have fond memories of the place. Any restuarant can have a bad night but I would apppreciate some recent review of the place.Many thanks Linda

When do they dress the barges up?

Where is this in Reading as I will be around there in JUne and would love to see the Swans.And also... will they be there at that time?

Can anyone recommend a fun restaurant for a Saturday night in Reading. We usually end up in a Chinese (upstairs in Furama) which has been brilliant and very reasonbale but would like to try something different..................

The monk was placed in the Abbey Ruins back in 1988 on the London road side of the ruins. In the picture on your website, the Monk is in a different place. Can you please tell me when the Monk was moved, and why? (I have pictures of when it was placed there and know the wife of one of the original workers who placed him there).
