Is there boat/ferry service from Salerno to Sorrento during the summer? If so, how difficult is it to get to the departure dock from the train station in Salerno? We are traveling from the South of Italy to Sorrento, by train and would like to avoid Naples if possible.

Pompeii and Naples day trip from Rome, is my Plan possible

      Pompeii Apr 10, 2014 at 1:46 PM

      Hi guys

I am planning a day trip from Rome to Pompeii and Naples National Archaeological Museum. I know it will be a stretched day, but we are 2 young guys(23 yrs) and we think we may be able to pull it off. Please review the following plan and help me understand if I may be missing any caveats.

      - Take Frecciarossa at 7-35AM from Roma Termini. Reach Naples at 8-45AM.
      - Take the other train to Pompeii Scavi. I believe we would be able to enter the site by 9-45AM? Am I right?
      - Explore Pompeii for about 4-5 hours and leave the site around 2-45 to 3 pm. Is this time too much or too less or appropriate?
      - Take the train back to Naples, Then Take the Metro to the National Museum. Expect to enter the museum around 4-15.
      - Enjoy the museum for a couple of hours (Only stuff related to Pompeii), Leave the Museum before 6-30 PM
      - Reach Da Michele's Pizza from the museum and have a great Napoli Pizza. I hope the waiting should not be much if I reach before 7pm. If the waiting is too much then I could go to Pizzeria Trianon across the street from Da Michelle.
      - After the Pizza feast head back to Napoli centrale and take the Intercity Train to Rome at 8-30pm.

Please give me your thoughts about this and also feel free to shout it out loud if you think this is crazy. :-) :-)

Can Hotel increase room rate on an on-line confirmed booking.

      Sorrento Apr 2, 2014 at 9:59 PM

I booked on-line for Sorrento hotel 3 nights early May 2014 for mid-week stay. It was booked in November 2013 not a booking agency but the hotel's website. There room rate offer was 79 euro per night. I have now received by email a notification that my credit card has expired (it hasn't) and that the rate is now 89 euro per night. Can they do this?

by Jennifermorcom Online Now Jan 25, 2014 at 1:55 AM

Has anyone done this walk? I'm going in May do shouldn't be too hot! I'm going to Amalfi from Sorrento day trip and was going to bus up to Ravello - have heard the open top bus will take the 3T ticket? Then walk back down I am fairly comfortable walking round 10 miles a day. Just wondered how long and how strenuous this would be. I am thinking the views will be incredible, but would like to know if I can do this comfortably in a day - I would like to wander around Amalfi as we'll I just don't want to have to rush around like mad to fit it all in Help anyone : )

    • Where to stay on the Amalfi coast?

by ATXhome512 Online Now Jun 23, 2013 at 9:13 AM

We only have 2 days on the Amalfi coast with 2 adults and 2 16 year old teens. I am thinking about staying in Ravello instead of Sorrento. We are flying out of Paris and will be up at 4:30 am. Ravello sounds more relaxing, but will we be able to get around to see many sights on the coast.

I think we will have blow of Capri since we need some downtime.

      Any thoughts?

      VILLA RUFOLO VS. VILLA CIMBRONE

by rocee Online Now Apr 30, 2010 at 10:05 PM

I will be on the Amalfi Coast the last week of May, staying in Vietri sul Mare, and want to spend a day in Ravello. I was in Ravello four years ago. It's probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, if not THE most beautiful. I didn't a lot of time to spend there, so didn't have the opportunity to see either. With the transportation involved, although I will have more time on this trip, if I can't see both, which would you recommend? And why? Any suggestions about this, and/or Ravello in general, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

      Hotel in Ravello

My husband and I will be in Ravello in October and are looking for a reasonably priced hotel. I understand that the options are limited, but of the "middle of the road" hotels, which has the best view? Nice accommodations? Close to Piazza Duomo? Any input would be helpful. We are not able to spend300-$500/night! Thank you.

I am taking a cruise in May which docks for one day in Naples. I want to travel to Ravello, but do not want a "private tour". I've seen something about Sita bus routes, but cannot seem to find fares or schedules from Naples to Ravello. Does anyone know the course of action I should take? Thanks!

    • Difference between Scarpariello Residence and Villa San Michele

by Jen_S Online Now Feb 27, 2006 at 11:55 AM

      Hello,

Does anyone know the difference between Scarpariello Residence and Villa San Michele? My sense is that Scarpariello Residence is made up of apartments and Villa San Michele is part of Scarpariello, but is the place where you can rent only a room, and not necessarily a whole apartment. Any insight would be much appreciated!

      Thanks!
