We are going to visit Amalfi Coast for our 44th annversary next May and we h've reserved 3h to visit Ravello and it's astonishing gardens and views.Which would be our best way to spend 3 hours app. there ? Thanks a lot for a kind answer from everybody!
the two major gardens with mansions are villa rufolo and villa cimbrone, easily walked from the main square. part of the enjoyment of this really small village is just walking the pedestrianized streets. depending on your interest, try walking thru a few of the spectacular 5 star hotels which also have great views - caruso and palazzo sasso are both amazing.
how are you planning on getting there?

Villa Cimbrone is on my opinione the place to go. It has a beautiful garden, scenic view over the Amalfi coast and to get there you'll walk througt the old and narrow lanes of the old town, offering other nice views.
Villa Rufolo is beautiful too, just in the centre of the town, with beautiful view from the gardens, but I think you'll enjoy a lot the walk to Villa Cimbrone.

You can and should visit both Villas as there is indeed no reasons to drop one. Villa Cimbrone is at a 15-minute uphill walk from the Villa Rufolo, which is in the Main Square where the Cathedral is. The view from Cimbrone's terrace is astonishing, no to be missed. I prefer Rufolo in term of gardens and architecture.
Ravello is by definition a place to enjoy at a slow pace, being not about specific sites but the overall setting and atmosphere. I would try to fit a half a day in your schedule.
Enjoy Ravello!
Giuseppe
