This is our 8th visit to Phuket but will be a first fishing trip in Phuket. My son age 10 has requested for me to bring him to one. He enjoyed his Australia's deep sea fishing last Nov. The problem is daddy (and daughter) will not been tagging along as he is prone to sea sickness unless it is a guaranteed not on rough seas. He is fine with river fishing which we went as a family prior to the deep sea fishing. Hence, it does not make sense for two of us to charter a batch or catamaran. I heard we can just go to Rawai or Ao Pa Pier to look for fisherman to take us out.
Appreciate any advice and suggestion. We will arrive on 31/5 morn and depart 03/6 night . We have booked a rental car.
Hi, has anyone been on the Phuket Food Tour (http://phuketfoodtours.com)? I can't seem to find any reviews or recommendations for this company and am concerned that it is not a reputable company.
Does anyone have any recommendations for other food tours in Phuket?
Response will be much appreciated.
I am off to Phuket for 4 days by the first week of June. I see that Patong is where the night life is, and obviously more crowded. I was thinking of staying in Patong for couple of nights and couple of nights in Karon or Kata, so I can enjoy a bit of the beachlife too.
Could you recommend some places to stay in Patong, and also some in Karon or Kata?
I would also like to know if there are any places where I could do snorkelling, parasailing, etc near Karon or Kate?
A friend and I will be travelling throughout southeast Asia this summer. He and I are both climbers and plan on spending about a week or so climbing in the Krabi area. It would be impossible for us to go to Thialand and not climb, however he and I dont want to carry a rope around for seven weeks. Is there anywhere that will rent ropes in Krabi? I know about the guided climbing and that it is relatively cheap , but that hurts my pride a little. I would rather be independent and have the option to multipitch. Also is it common to find people climbing in Krabi with a rope looking for a belay partner?
I'm planning on being in Phuket at the end of this month. I was just wondering if there is anyone else who is planning a trip out there around the same time. I think it would be very interesting to party in Thailand with people from around the world.
Can anyone give me information about bus travel between hat yai and ranong? Does it have to be booked through a travel agent? If so can I have a name, address and telephone number? Or can I get tickets at the bus station? If so, where is this?
Hope you can help.
Hi I have kids under 5 travelled more than 24 hrs to see the nicest beaches in Thailand as you see in movies. However, I heard patong is crowded and loud. I am not necessarily looking for my own spot but not where there is bustling loud music and street vendors trampling over you either. What is a good suggestion, not too expensive. Some tourists told me to stay in chalong but then how to get to beaches?
Hi. Will be arriving at Phuket airport at 12am yes midnight. Seeing hotels near airport are few, and not cheap, what is good way to get closer to town? What are the options? And scams to be wary of?
Once in Phuket, besides car and scooter how to get around times and cost? And do kids under 5 pay?

Hi, i'm Planning to go Koh Lipe this end of May. I wonder is there any Taxi/mini van to Pak Bara from Bukit Kayu Hitam/Sadao Border? As i will drive myself to Bukit Kayu Hitam from Penang and park my car at the duty free shop. Appreciate anyone can advise me. Many thanks ^^
Leaving for Phuket in the near future for a great job opportunity. I am from the US and have never been there before. Salary will be a base of 70k baht/month with a 15k/month housing allowance with health insurance all covered on the international plan. I am in my twenties but I do not drink or party that much so I will not be going crazy at the bars...I am wondering if I can live comfortably on this salary. Thanks so much for your advice and input. Cannot wait to arrive.
I am traveling to Phuket at the end of June for 3-4 days. It will be my first time in Thailand so i'm figuring out where to stay. I've heard that Patong is the most popular beach and heavy tourist area with great night life but I'm looking for something less crowded but still accessible to the night life if we desired. I've heard that Kata or Karon are great areas to stay at as well. I am looking for a 4 or 5 star resort to stay at as well. Appreciate any tips or suggestions. It's a girls trip just to relax, shop and eat and do some site-seeing. If you guys have any site-seeting or activities to suggest that would help as well. I've heard that cooking classes can be really fun. Thanks all.
Does anyone know a good place to stay for one night someplace halfway (easy to find from highway) for one night. We are traveling by own car from BKK to Ranong and want a good suggestion for a overstay somewere. We are traveling with 3 kids so we do need it to be a place where kids are welcome. Otherwise we only need clean an own restaurant. Any suggestions???
Hi, Does anyone know if there is possible to do this? I've been searching for a rental company that allow pick up in Surat Thani and drop of in the city of Ranong, but I can't find one. I've been in contact with several that say that they do not allow drop of in Ranong. We are flying in from BKK on the 11th of Dec this year and since we have 3 kids the bus does not feel like an option. We need to be in time for the last ferry or speadboat to Koh Pahyam. Any ideas?
how do you get to ranong from bangkok/ or phuket? i've read that the only airline (phuket air) servicing this place doesn't fly anymore. If anyone has been here, can you please give me the full details on where to go (bus terminal, travel time, or airport terminal) thank you very much!
