Labor day (May 1) in Quito

by mikymiky Online Now Feb 28, 2013 at 1:22 AM

I will be traveling in Quito on May 1st/labor day. I saw some info stating all the workers will take the day off from work. So does that mean all the businesses incl restaurants will be closed? Any suggestions on what to do that day? Thanks!

Labor Day is an important holiday where workers take part in parades and processions all over the country celebrating the workers from all over the world. It is a public holiday and most businesses will be closed.

As in weekends you will see many people playing and having picnic in the parks. So, one thing to do is to go for a stroll in some of the big parks, like Parque Carolina and Parque Ejido.
