I am planning on doing the ice hike on Glacier Grey at the beginning of April. I will be staying at Mountain Lodge Grey the night before and will leave for the hike from there. I am wondering what the typical timing of the hike is? I hope to do the hike and then trek down to Paine Grande to spend the night there. Is it possible to do the ice hike and then trek down to Paine Grande all in one day?
The next day I will take the boat across lake Pehoe to Pudeto and then a bus to exit the park.
You are aware that US citizens pay a fee to enter Chile? Well not anymore.....as of February 26th, 2014, Chile has stopped collecting the reciprocity fee, with that Americans are no longer required to pay the reciprocity fee!
I will be in Punta Arenas next week and plan to walk around town, go shopping, visit museums and eat at nice restaurants. The following week I'll be backpacking the Circuit of Torres del Paine; for this part of the trip I definitely know how to dress, no problem. However I always dress as the city people do wherever I go, I like to blend in and also be respectful of their culture. Many Americans tend to be noticed because they always look like tourists, I don't want to feel out of place, and because I have never been that far south and don't know anyone from that area I am not sure what to wear. Any advice?
