by ShyrlRoberts Online Now Jun 11, 2014 at 2:10 PM

I ride a carbon fiber bike on the streets of Southern California and will be spending three months in Quebec City at a language school. Can anyone recommend a bike rental shop where I can install my personal pedals and saddle on a similar bike? I had family from Beauport and Beaupré, and would like to visit by bike!

    • Hotel with parking in Old Quebec

by spedprof Online Now May 15, 2014 at 11:56 AM

You have been helpful in suggesting places in Quebec City (Manoir d'auteul and others), but while I do not require valet parking, I would like to be certain that the local parking lots/garages will have spots available when i come visit. For clarification, as a New Yorker on vacation, I do not want to come back to my room and find that there are no avaialble parking spots. Don't mind reasonable costs for the privilege (once had to pay $75 for a few hours to attend a wedding at a NYC hotel!), but prefer not to worry about parking so I may enjoy the visit. Looking for a quaint place for a couple of young seniors in July. Merci, in advanced!

Looking for a reasonably priced hotel (~$200/night) in Quebec City for three nights in July.. Two active seniors arriving by car (need parking) interesting in touring and food, but no late night bar hopping. Assume Upper Town is preferable eh?

I've booked a hotel on Grande-Allee Est and although the website said there was parking, I later found that some people said it was limited and their cars got boxed in. It costs $13.25 per day. Can anyone suggest a better place to park near the Avenue de Salaberry? Thanks very much. Cathy

    • 4 days outside the city of Quebec

by Bob.Lankin Online Now Feb 16, 2014 at 5:34 PM

We are arriving on Friday July 5 on a Holland America cruise ship. The ship will be docked on Friday so we can see some sights in the city that day. My company has 4 days planned in the city, staying at the Chat. Front. from Wednesday night until Sunday. The question is what to do - where to go from Saturday until Wednesday? We were thinking of renting a car and getting out of town perhaps to see some interesting towns and scenery. We like to take some hikes 5-7 miles during the day. We were thinking of staying at a bead and breakfast.
      Your thoughts?

I have a fear of heights and am planning to take a bus tour to the Falls and Basilica. Other than the obvious of not walking the bridge over the falls, are there any other points in the route where I might have a problem with the heights; e.g., driving on the side of mountains with sweeping views of the valley below or vistas from Manoir Montmorency, etc.

by newhampshiredeb Online Now Aug 25, 2013 at 7:17 AM

About 20 years ago, with my family I visited a lovely country restaurant I believe on an island outside or near Quebec city. After we parked, to reach the well preserved building, we were driven in by horse and carriage. As I recall the food was, at that time, considered haute cuisine - very fine Quebecois regional food. All in all the memory is preserved as it having been a very special place and experience. Is there a place like this still in existence?

by timewaster Online Now Aug 16, 2013 at 9:11 AM

My hotel is La Tour Belvedere located at 2175 Maisonneuve Blvd W Montreal, QC
what are my options to get there from the airport besides taxi?

      I see there are 2 options -
Take the 747 bus to Berri-Uqam Station. then use the metro - does the 24 hour $9 metro ticket cover both the bus & metro? is the bus express from the airport to Berri-Uqam Station?

Take the airport shuttle bus (L'AEROBUS MOTOR BUS EXPRESS )to Berri-Uqam Station. There is supposed to be a free mini-van at Berri-Uqam Station to 30 hotels. Where can i get the list of hotels the mini-van goes to?

Which is the recommended option? The one most people use?

    • Home accomodation in Quebec for language course

by 8birdman8 Online Now Jul 24, 2013 at 3:45 AM

I took a holiday in Canada this year, loved it, and I am now planning to take an immersion course in the French language in Quebec because everything in the Province is written in English and French so I should gain vocabulary and hopefully grammar and fluency, through osmosis. To this end I want to find out where I can get 'home accomodation' (family, shared apartment or house etc.) where the immersion process is continued. I expect to stay for 3 or 4 months - any helpful experiences, ideas etc? Thanks - your feedback would be great!
