will I need some local money ?

      Doha Apr 8, 2013 at 4:13 PM

Will I need some local money, or are US-$ and Euro-bills or CC OK as well ?
In principle I will try to get along without spending any money, but you will never know what comes up ?
      -
My flight arrives at around 07.00pm, my transfers to and from the hotel are booked aleady and the hotel is payed as well.
I will just take a little walk in the evening and have to get to bed early.
Have to get up very early the next morning, so will there be any extra expenses for me ??

we are flying from Austria through Doha to Vietnam. We have approx. 8 hrs. 6:05 pm - 1:55 am. First, do we need a visa prior of arrival? i read in one of the answers that it takes over an hr. just to clear the area of getting the visa. is that true? lets say we get out of there by 7:30pm. is there anything else to do except the souk? any malls or such like in dubai? if we arrive back at the airport around midnight, is that early enough? thx!

Help! My transit in Doha Airport is of 20 hours..!!

      Doha Aug 31, 2012 at 8:04 AM

Hello everyone! I am flying to Chicago via Doha next week and I have a transit time there of about 20 hours. I have been reading some of the reviews and stories that people have posted on the net about the airport in Doha and it does not sound like a pleasant place to spend so much time. I have a Pakistani passport. Will I be able to get a transit visa to go out and sight-see since I cant spend that much time sitting around? Moreover can I get hotel stay or a meal voucher or something since the transit is long? I asked the travel agent this but he said this wont be possible as the airline we are going to be flying from Europe onwards does not have such a contract with Qatar Airlines. So can anyone help me? What can I do during the 20 hours? Being a Pakistani, can I get transit visa for a few hours to see the city rather than rotting at the airport the whole day long? And are there any good fast food places at the airport? I would really appreciate some guidance as this is my first time traveling via Doha. Thanks!

      Transit in Doha

      Doha Aug 14, 2012 at 7:29 AM

Hello, I'll be having a long transit in Doha soon - from 12 midnite until 8pm (20 hours). I'm thinking of going to Souq's area, walking by the sea or wondering in the modern city center shopping mall. In view of the summer time I'm wondering whether Souq is open during day time or not ? Is it ok to walk around during summer or is the weather too hot to handle ? :) Thanks.

    • Doha to Perth transit

      Doha Mar 8, 2012 at 12:35 PM

Hi I am flying with Qatar Airlines for the first time this year, from London to Perth. As I am traveling on my own I wanted to find out about the transfer arrangements for when I arrive in Doha. I have read some reviews and I am now really worried, as most say that that its a long bus ride and then it can be up to an hour to get through security. My turnaround time is only an hour, so I am now wondering if I will make my ongoing flight to Perth. Has anyone been through this and can give me some information, I am starting to regret ever booking with them.

    • 4 hour night stopover in Doha

      Doha Jan 7, 2012 at 7:49 AM

Hi! on the return leg of my honeymoon (from Male to London), we are having a four hour night stop over in Doha (arriving at 22:00, and leaving again at 01:50) Is this enough to venture out into the city? We are on a budget so don't want it to cost too much. Can anyone advice on what to do, and how much taxis, a cold drink will cost? I'm Belgian, my fiancee is British. I understand you get visas on arrival, but am confused as some say they cost 8 British pounds, others say double that. Some people seem to recommend going to Souq Waqif. Maybe we can walk there? And lastly, is it correct we don't have to worry about our luggage, as that is automatically dealt with by Qatar airways, whom our travel agent booked the whole flight deal with?

    • Tourist Visa to Qatar for 15 days or less

      Qatar Jan 4, 2012 at 6:12 PM

Hi, I am a Filipina working in Singapore. I am planning on taking a short trip to Doha this coming April or May, just to check out the place as I am planning to pursue my career there in 2013 -- in Construction/ Surveying. Please advice how I can get a tourist visa, and how much will it cost me. A friend sugested that I should buy a Business Visa instead -- she said that acquiring a tourist visa is not easy. But the cost of Business Visa is quite expensive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
