    • Excursions near Guanacaste

Costa Rica May 15, 2013 at 7:30 PM

Hi there. My husband and I will be at the Riu Palace in Guanacaste July 15th through the 20th for our honeymoon. Any recommendations on "must-see" excursions? We don't want to do more than one or two days off of the resort, and would love feedback from anyone who's visited this part of the country. Thanks so much!

    • 25th Anniversary Trip. Help we need advice!

Costa Rica Apr 24, 2013 at 6:57 PM

My husband & I are planning a long awaited get away to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in Oct. We have always wanted to go to Costa Rica but do not know where to begin. We love the outdoors, kayaking, hiking, snorkling and are not attracted by large fancy resorts with swim up bars. I do not want to wear resort clothes all the time. Give me my flip flops, and and no makeup!
Any suggestions for a romantic getaway with out the glitz?

Costa Rica May 4, 2013 at 2:01 AM

I'm planning a trip to Costa Rica and wondering if there are good places to trade into. I'm a member in Interval and also in 3rdHome, both of which have places down there. Just wondering if anybody has suggestions on the best destinations to visit. I'd also like to do some eco-touring and explore the rainforest. Any input is welcome.

    • Travel packages in Costa Rica

Costa Rica May 15, 2013 at 7:11 AM

      Hello!
I'm going from Sweden to Costa Rica this fall. I checked on line and found that the local travel agencies offer "package" with hotels, excursions, local guide, some meals and travel in a minibus in the country. A week costs about $ 500 and 14 days approx $ 1800 depending on which hotel you choose. The condition is that I must pay in advance via internet. Has anyone been there with experience if it is ok or should I wait and book when I get there and travel around for myself and choose according to the conditions in each place I visit?
I'm not afraid of a little trouble and have fun for the money I can save. Thanks in advance.
      Farstache.

      Cancel or not?

Costa Rica May 11, 2013 at 7:52 AM

When we booked our trip, we did not realize that May was the beginning of the rainy season. Should we cancel our trip? We will be there May 20-26, 2013. We would like a couple of days at the beach. A little rain would be fine, but not the whole time. As of now, the forecast is cloudy and showers. We are spending 3 days in Manuel Antonio and two in Arenal. What do you think?

by vonysc Online Now Oct 6, 2011 at 6:27 AM

Will be ariving in Puntarenas Costa Rica from cruise ship and wondered if anyone knew if we could get to the Carara Nat` Pk' by shuttle and how much it would be, or how much a taxi and driver would charge for the day. I've read the park is free to enter, but do you have to pay to use the "skywalk" cable bridge. Thanks to any one who can help. Vonysc

      Puntarenas for a Day!

by bobnfran Online Now Dec 19, 2005 at 1:29 PM

My wife and I will be in Puntarenas for just one day (arriving by cruiseship) on January 3rd from 9:00am to 6:00pm. We want to see and do as much as possible in this very short time. We would appreciate a suggested "itinerary" of must-see and must-do activities from morning to night. We are "young", active seniors and would be open to all ideas and suggestions. We like hiking, rafting, etc..the Canopy Tour sounds interesting. We know it will be a whirlwind day, but we are ready and willing. If there are any local VT's who could be available to personally guide/drive us thru this day, that would be even better!

by parseau Online Now Jan 26, 2004 at 6:30 PM

Various news articles are describing Puntarenus as an extremely bad haven for petty theft and con-artist., as is most of the tourist towns of Costa Rica. I would like to know HOW BAD is it. Has anyone had first hand experience, good or bad. Bryan
