Punta Cana

I will be traveling to Punta Cana from May 23 - 28th 2013. I was wondering if I will mainly get rain? or will I enjoy the beautiful sun? any weather tip will help.

My brother is getting married in Punta Cana, DR in October at the Barcelo Resort. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for something I could do for him down there before his big day. He is 27 and really into sports. Not really sure which way it could go, but I'm open to anything since I really haven't had to much time to research any ideas yet. Thanks in advance!

Where can we go if we are looking for salsa / bachata?

We will be visiting the Majestic Colonial Resort in June. We have children between the ages of 5 years to 13 years old. What would you suggest that we do while we are there? By the way we have nver been to Punta Cana before and looking to get the most out of our trip.

What is the best way of getting from (our hotel) Bavaro to Santo Domingo, if by bus how much does it cost and how often do they run ? do we have to get there very early to make sure we get on the bus there and back? or is there a train we can take ?

How does one explore the shopping, the "downtown", meaning is there a way to jump on a bus and just explore on ur own, no tour guides, just go anywhere, and is it safe? also what kind of shopping is there close to the hotel zone, Ill be staying at the Royal Suites Turquesa in April

What is the best and most economical way of getting from Gran Bahia in Punta Cana to Gran Bahia El Portillo in Samana for 2 adults and 2 kids 7&10. We are relatively adventurous and do not mind travelling on local transportation though on such a long trip I would like a fairly decent bus service (ie. no livestock allowed). Bus? taxi? helicopter tour? boat tour? island tour? Open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers. Emilia

After my fiance and I are married in September, we will be spending our honeymoon Punta Cana. We will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino but want to experience the real Dominican Republic. We are interested in experiencing the culture outside of our resort i.e. eating where the natives eat, shopping the non commercial areas, exploring the jungle and drinking in a local town bar. Any suggestions as to where we can find non tourist trap places to check out are greatly appreciated!

Cholera is a problem in Dominican Republic now as it is in Haiti. Does anybody know whether it is still safe to travel to Punta Cana? Has cholera reached the resort area of Punta Cana yet? Are any special precautions adopted by the hotels?

Hello everyone, I will be in Dominican on april and staying at a resort near Punta Cana Airport I was planning on leaving the resort with some friends for 4 nights. I'm wondering where there is cheap places to stay? Would my best bet be to go to bavaro? We would be on an extreme budget but we can live on nothing and are not looking for anything fancy, so im wondering if anyone had a general Idea on how much it would cost us, living and food? Can anyone give me a name of the company they used for their trip to Isla Soana? I have read some great reviews and I am afraid to use just anyone to take us there. We do not need to scuba as we are not certified. We are looking for good food drinks and fun. Thanks so much! Janet

Hello, looking to travel to DR next year with some friends. We are looking to have fun, party, eat, relax and shop. Wondering which part of DR is best for all of this, we are looking to travel in Mid-October. We are not sure where to stay, but to be near the places with the best for nightlife possible.

Is the WiFi acces in public areas free? Also, any recommendations for which villa to stay in?

I'm in Bavaro very soon and would really like to see whales. I came across a site called " The Real DR" who offer a whale watch excursion from Punta Cana and Bavaro. therealdr.com/store/all-east... Does anyone know anything about this company or the offered excursion please?? Some folk seem to say it's not practical to go whale watching from Punta Cana/Bavaro because of the distances. Is it possible??
