I write a column about shipwrecks for Sport Diver Magazine. A reader has asked for more info on what he thinks is a Russian freighter named ASTRON (he thinks) that is located near Punta Cana. It was supposed to be grounded in a storm in the 1970s. It is partly up and out of the water and is rusting badly. The stern is gone. The stern has been salvaged or it just broke off and is still somewhere in the area. Can anyone tell me more about this wreck? Many thanks. Ellsworth Boyd
