I have 2 questions on car driving from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales (we will be there mid February, 2009): 1) we will arrive by flight from Puerto Montt at about 18.30 PM (namely, will be out of the airport about 19.30. Are the car rental offices still operating at the airport? 2) How long is the drive to P. Natales??
Hy, AVIS office is open everyday 08:30 - 22:30 (President Ibanez Apo, Punta Arenas,Chile 56-61-614378) or here: avis.com/AvisWeb/home/AvisHo.... Maybe it's better you rent the car online. Kms are around 240, time around 4 hours.

You would need to book the car online before you come as stock is limited and February is high season. Then you are guaranteed to be met.

Thanks a lot. I did check with some car rental agencies and it seems that there are high drop-off cherges if the car is left. in P. Natales. Consequently, we want to consider taking abus form P. Arenas to P. Natales and rent a car there (if any, because maybe we don't need a car at all for TdP - I had posted a question on in in the TdP forum). My questions are: 1) How late and how often run the buses between P. Arenas and P. Natales? 2) do they go thru the P. Arenas airport or we have to get to the city? 3) is a cab or remiss an option and how more expensive can it be that the bus? Thanks again - Hillel
