Titicaca boats

by Tangooo1 Online Now Jun 28, 2011 at 7:08 AM

I plan a trip to Tiicaca Lake in mid Septemebr.
I will start in Puno, then the lake and Bolivia.
I want to see Uros, Tequile, Amantani and then Del Sol and Copacabana.
Do you know the schedule for boats in Puno?
Are there any boats apart from organized tours?
Can I go to Del Sol but visit all the islands on my way?
Do you know a schedule of boats from Del Sol to Copacabana?

Thank you so much for your tips!

    Hi Basia
Just a quick point, as I should be packing for my flight tomorrow ...
You can easily take a boat trip from Puno that takes in the Uros Islands and Taquile. However, in previous posts, you have mentioned that limited mobility is an issue, so be warned that there is a very long and steep flight of stairs from where the boat lands at Taquile and the village itself. Even moderately fit people in their 30s were pretty out of breath by the time they reached the top (probably a combination of the physical exercise + altitude), so if you or your tarvel companion have mobility problems, you will very likely not be able to make it up to the village.
Don't know about the other side as we didn't have the time to explore that.
