    • Going to Isla Verde/San Juan in August 14th

      San Juan Yesterday

      Hello,

Three friends and I will be visiting Puerto Rico in a few weeks. I am from Colombia, I pay attention and I know there is danger everywhere, all around the world. I have seen a lot of things about La Perla, on how to stay away from that area, what other areas should I watch out for? I not only want to see the touristic part, but also every-day. if possible safe areas... which ones are recommended?

Also, what other tourist attractions to visit aside from The Bacardi facility, el Yunque, Old San Juan?? is it best to schedule tours through the hotel or with each facility?

Any good/bad reviews about El San Juan Hotel Casino and Resort?

      Thankkk you.

    • Need to spend 3+ months on US territories. Where is the best place to spend it?

Puerto Rico Jul 18, 2014 at 11:46 PM

I need to work with China time zone remotely from US territory for 3+ months (Oct till Jan), wanna find a nice place where I can explore for three months on my spare time.
Alaska maybe too cold for winter, and I have been to most of the major US cities. I am thinking about Guam, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico.
Hawaii will cost me more on flights. The cheapest flight is to Puerto Rico.
Guam will have the least time difference with China, and I can get around on bicycles and boats. But does it worth spending three months there?
How does the living expense compare to live there?
I will bring my fins and dive for sure, whichever island I chose out of these three.
      Any thoughts?

Where in Puerto Rico? First timer....

by kopite83 Online Now Jan 10, 2014 at 8:43 AM

My wife and I, with our 1.5 yo boy are planning a trip to Puerto Rico first week of June. It'll be a week long stay. I'd like the following in my trip:

      - Resort by the beach - Don't like it too crowded
      - Away from the hustle n bustle of city life
      - We'd like to do some excursions/activities (snorkeling, para sailing, sight seeing etc).

So my question is where would be the best place to stay and be able to do the above?

      Appreciate the help!

    • is moving to Puerto Rico a good idea?

by LloydChristmas420 Online Now Aug 21, 2013 at 12:37 PM

My grandmother lives in Puerto Rico and my friend and I are planning on selling everything we own and moving down there. We are both 24 and want to live the type of "beach bum" lifestyle we have come to love. When we get to Puerto Rico we plan on finding basic, minimum wage jobs just so we can be earning some kind of income. we're not looking to get rich or find these crazy succesfull jobs. we just love the ocean and the over all relaxed feeling of island life. So my question is, has anyone done anything similar? has anyone been to Puerto Rico and what have you thought of it? is it dangerous? Any stories and advice you can share are much appreciated!

also, please dont tell me how bad of an idea it is or how we are both just dreaming. we realize this probably wont work out but we are willing to fail giving it a shot. at worst we'll come back home with a story to tell.

      Tell me all, please?

What hidden costs should I expect with car rentals.  Is it good to go ahead and pay for the toll road package? Where to drive to that's worth the time and gas? I'm really excited about visiting for the first time and don't want to miss anything. I look forward to your suggestions. I can't wait to get there this coming Tuesday. All suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Please offer some suggestions. I want to meet local people and savor local food, and experience local color and festivities. First Time Visit

by 2giants Online Now Jul 20, 2011 at 5:20 PM

We're looking for suggestions for a first time visit to Puerto Rico. We like beach front, laid back kind of places where we can eat like a local. We don't want an all inclusive or high rise. We have no idea where to even start looking. What are your suggestions for the best beach to hang out on in late October? Diving, snorkeling, and just plain relaxing is on our list.
Thanks in advance for your help.
