Hi We are cycling from St Malo/ France to Amsterdam and I have noticed on google earth that my bike GPS has us cycling through a few tunnels, is this permitted, I see we go through westerschelde tunnel,Weg naar du val tunnel, Rijksweg tunnel, can someone help as we set off on the 2nd May Regards Richard
Certainly you are not allowed to cycle through the Westerschelde tunnel http://www.westerscheldetunnel.nl/ I tried selecting a route 'on foot' from St Malo to Amsterdam using Google maps and the first thing it did was send me back on a ferry to Portsmouth! I zoomed in on the section Brugge - Amsterdam, selected 'on foot' and it seemed to find a way across various bridges etc. You might need to be a little creative with the final section of route and maybe take a ferry or two instead of going way inland. Example - the Breskens to Vlissingen ferry still operates but for foot passengers, bicycles and scooters only since the tunnel opened. I hope that helps.
