I'll be in Amsterdam next week and think it would be great to find out where my ancestors are from. Unfortunately they live in Oldeboorn which seems near to impossible to get to. I see in the past someone mentioned getting a taxi after taking a bus, but is that really the only option? Unless I rent a car, which maybe I should just do? Thank you - Tennille
Hey traveller! When you're in Holland try calling 0900-9292 its the phone number for Dutch public transport. You could also visit http://www.ns.nl the Dutch railway page and choose akkrum as your destination. So far I know Oldeboorn is near it. Unfortunately you have to get a cab. But maybe its better to rent a car. Then you can see some Dutch scenery as well. Next week weather forecast is somewhat sunny with 15C. Enjoy!

Renting a car is a good idea, but when the weather's nice I really recommend you to rent a bicycle at the Heereveen railway station. It's much cheaper than a car and it's not so far to Oldeboorn anyway.
