2 Days in Quito - with an 8 year old

      Quito Jun 5, 2013 at 7:18 AM

Hola - we'll be in Quito for 2 full days (Monday and Tuesday, Jun 24/25) leaving for the Galapagos on Wed, June 26th. Any suggestions for family activities during these two days? Assuming we'll try the Mitad del Mundo and ride the teleferico; any other ideas that are child-friendly? I love museums, but don't really see spending half a day at one with an antsy 8 year old. Just looking for some ideas....Gracias! (p.s. we'll be staying at Casa San Marcos)

    • 9 day trip

      Ecuador Jun 3, 2013 at 10:36 AM

My boyfriend and I are traveling to Ecuador in July and were planning a trip from Quito - Cotopaxi/Banos/Alausi - Cuenca - Montanita. Is this too much to do in 9 days? We'd like to see the beach and do some beginner to intermediate hiking outdoors. Does anyone have suggestions for an itinerary?
      Thanks!

I would appreciate hearing from members who live in the city as to interesting things to do during that period ... plesant places to have "adult beverages" and good food. ^^ The primary reason for my stay in Cuenca is to study Spanish, and my secondary reason is to have a wonderful time. Assistance will be appreciated. Paul

      Cuenca Oct 14, 2009 at 12:56 PM

Does anyone know if I am correct about a retirement visa needing documented proof of income of at least800 per month and100 for dependants? My husband and I are working on a way to retire there but would not have a pension, just an income which could be documented. Any advice will be great.

      bus from guyaquil to cuenca

      Cuenca Nov 25, 2008 at 5:07 PM

Im flying into guyaquil and would like to bus to cuenca. The only thing is that I'll have a backpacking backpack full of stuff (I'll be living in Cuenca for 7months). Also, my Spanish is beginning to low intermediate. I'm asking this because I've heard that the buses there can be sketchy. Do you think it's safe to take the bus ride or should I get a plane? Thanks

      Cuenca Oct 28, 2007 at 1:16 PM

Hello all, Just writing to see if anyone knows about flights from Quito or Guayaquil to Cuenca, Ecuador. I will be flying from the U.S. and I´m having a hard time finding a flight that goes past Quito or Guayaquil. Do you have to purchase another ticket to cuenca ( or any other location within ecuador) apart from the international ticket from the U.S. to ecuador ? thanks for the help.

Intercambio (Spanish-English language exchange) in Cuenca, Ecuador?

      Cuenca Aug 12, 2006 at 10:09 PM

Next month (September), I'll be in Cuenca for 2 weeks taking Spanish lessons. During that time, I'd like to meet up with a native Spanish speaker who's interested in a language exchange to improve each other's conversational skills. I don't care if the person is male or female, old or young (but not too young). His or her English skills can be at a beginner level. I'm from Seattle and English (American) is my first language. I know about the Abraham Lincoln Center and Si Centro which teaches English to Ecuadorians. However, from what I've gathered, most of their English students are young children. I prefer someone a little older. If anyone knows anyone in Cuenca or a place or Internet site where I can find someone who would like to do a language exchange, please let me know.
