Is it reasonably safe to rent a car and tour on your own in the DR? Road conditions? Areas to avoid? I am interested in birding and hiking in National Parks. How are the resorts in Puerto Plata?

Does anyone have an email or direct contact to them? Im trying to plan a very large event and would like to host it at this hotel. I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, if I sell out Lifestyles and Confresi is there other hotels really close that could possibly do shuttle for the conference?

Puerto Plata Mar 20, 2014 at 6:16 PM

I thought that Lifestyle Tropical along Confresi Palms would be it looks like each only has 212 rooms and 70 suites. I am looking for somewhere to have a large event. The ideal hotel would have a large stage with lighting, good service, all inclusive a most, and a great value. Not looking or needing fancy, value is more important. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Punta Cana Apr 1, 2014 at 2:40 AM

We are leaving for Punta Cana in 2 days. My husband seems to think we need to leave the resort, and even more crazy he thinks we needs to flag down the guys on scooters to take us?? What are your thoughts on this, I personally dont think this sounds like a good idea. We are staying at the Catalonia Resort, and want to go up to the shopping complex by Melia Caribe. Any thoughts?? We would be with another couple as well, so four people.

    • Where to order online Flowers?

Punta Cana Mar 31, 2014 at 7:02 AM

      Hi.

I have "google it" a lot searching for Florist in Punta Cana but it seems that none have a website. I only found one (http://www.sisayonline.com/). All the other doesn't have a website or they have lost the domain.
From what I read in some forums, it seems that the Hotel's can provide flowers but they are too expensive. I also try some international florist with international shipping but they are also very expensive.

Can someone help me? I would really want to send some flowers to my wife who will be working in Punta Cana for this week.

      Thanks.

Santiago de los Caballeros Jan 3, 2011 at 7:21 PM

I will be visiting my daughter, a student at Pontificia Catolica Universidad de Madre y Maestra, at the end of April. I am looking for inexpensive lodging near there. I cannot seem to find anything but huge, expensive resort like hotels in Santiago. Can anyone help me with information about more reasonable lodging? It only needs to be clean and simple.

      What to do

Santiago de los Caballeros May 20, 2006 at 5:23 AM

I am planning a 3 night trip to northern Spain in October flying in
to SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS or Santander . Is there enough to do in this area or can anyone suggest the number of nights to stay or where else to go for a night. Can anyone recommend any scenic walks (not the full pilgrim sketch) of about 2 hours or so with the possibility of some wild life.

      Thanks

Studying Spanish in Santiago de los Caballeros

Santiago de los Caballeros Mar 29, 2004 at 8:40 AM

This will be my last query on this topic--I promise!! Does ANYONE know if the PUCMM offers classes in Spanish to foreigners on a short-term basis? I am having difficulty locating a place where I can arrange for classes in Spanish for a few weeks next fall. On their website I can't access anything about this topic. What about "Program CIEE--PUCMM?" Berlitz Institute, I've heard, offers Spanish as well as French, but I can't find any address for them. I am so desperate now I would be thrilled to pay a tutor for help. Does anyone know of a university grad student/dept., etc. that offers this service? Thanks so much!

Study Abroad. . . and immunizations

Provincia de Santiago Mar 14, 2004 at 7:46 AM

Hi, I would like to study Spanish for 3 weeks in Santiago de los Caballeros, but I'm not having much luck in finding websites of language schools. Does anyone know of schools where I could study for only 3 weeks--a full semester is definitely out! Also, various guidebooks recommend different types of shots. Is Hepatitis B immunization a necessity?? The three shots are given over a 6 month period. Finally, what small hotels do y'all recommend? I don't care for huge resort type places. Muchas gracias!!
