      Family-friendly Mirimar hotels.

      Havana Apr 18, 2014 at 2:40 PM

Has anyone traveled to Havana as a family? In particular Mirimar. Many/most hotels are not allowing four to a room. I'm looking for feedback from those who might have spent time in this awesome city. Thanks everyone!

    • Recommended Clubs and Safe Way to Get Back to the Resort??

      Varadero Apr 15, 2014 at 8:34 PM

Hi! We're a group of late 20s/early 30s females looking to experience the nightlife in Varadero this weekend. Are there any recommendations for a fun safe club that plays mostly top 40 / usual club music? Also, how easy is it to get a reliable taxi around 2/3 am outside of the clubs? Welcome any tips/advice! Thanks!!

Hi, I wanted to know what the best mode of transportation is to get from Varadero to Cienfuegos. Also keep in mind we are two adults a 9 year old and a 1.5 year old.

Also, is el Nicho suitable to go with the whole family?

      Thanks,
      Melisa

      Casas particulares?

      Varadero Apr 10, 2014 at 9:19 PM

      Hello Varadero aficionados,

I know that Varadero is rich with resorts, but I was curious to know if anyone was aware of any casa particulares that are in the city. I am not a huge fan of resorts, but I do want to see Varadero because it seems like everyone has gone except for me! :P

If anyone knows of any, or would even recommend one that they stayed at that would be lovely.

      Thanks in advance!

      Lulu

Amenities at cayo Santa Maria memories resort

Cayo Santa María Apr 17, 2014 at 9:59 PM

Are there safes? Do they cost extra? Do they have a doctor onsite? Is the food safe? I have 2 kids and a pregnant lady coming along. I hear there are many Mosquitos, are they dangerous? How is the ground room floor with terrace? Any bugs? How can I call Canada or someone call me? Do I pay extra in room even if someone calls me? What's the plug I need, voltage . Are there activities and going to city is it complicated?
Leaving Monday so appreciate the answers.

    • Expression of Gratitude and Photo Request

Cayo Coco Apr 3, 2014 at 8:31 AM

Cayo Coco was a magical retreat for a city slicker living life with blinders. How do I express my gratitude to those who enriched my stay at the Colonial? I would like to ensure that their managers are aware of the exemplary treatment that I received at many levels....A particular cowboy gentleman with white vinyl hat and horse named Muldalvo took us on a magnificent carriage ride that filled out hearts with smiles. But my battery died and I have no photos capturing this special experience!! Any idea how I might contact his supervisor to convey both my gratitude and to request an on-line photo? Alas, already back to my mundane life in Toronto I long to return to Cayo Coco....

    • Going to Baracoa?

      Baracoa Apr 17, 2009 at 12:32 PM

I'm looking for a Canadian (preferably from Alberta, though not essential) who is planning to travel to Baracoa in the next month or so. My Cuban friend there needs over-the-counter medication for her baby, and I would like someone to take them to her (a small package). If you can help, please contact me.

    • Cuba this Summer/ Guantanamo Carnival

      Guantánamo Apr 16, 2009 at 10:50 AM

      Hi RickL and others,

Its Great to see a reveiw on the Guantanamo Carnival.

My Cuban dance teacher is planning a trip over there this summer. It's going to be my first time visiting Cuba. In about 2 weeks time, I am wondering if i should just stay close to Havana and hit other hightlights and save the trip across Island to the East side. Or, is it totally THE thing to do in Cuba to go to this Carnival? I am interested in Cuban dance and off course sightseen...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
      Sandy

    • Traveling in Costa Rica with a baby

Costa Rica Oct 5, 2005 at 9:42 PM

Hi, going to CR for 3 weeks in Dec/Jan, plannning on Nosara, Montezuma, Papagayo (attending a wedding there), then spending a week in the Osa Peninsula.
I would really appreciate some advice.

      1. Should we rent a car when we arrive? Drive to Nosara with the 11 month old very hot, tired, annoyed baby? Or fly there, then rent a car later on to schlep about from Montezuma.

      2. Should we fly up to Papagayo from Montezuma? Or drive?

      3. Definitely going to fly to Osa from Papagayo, then fly back up to San Jose to go home.

      4. Also, stay in Mal Pais, or Montezuma, which is more local, charming, not too mad and touristy.

Any and all advice about this first trip with our baby would be really appreciated. We are not going to be doing any big adventure stuff, just being laid back and absorbing the greeness and beauty.

I just feel a bit lost, you know, like, if it was just us two we'd just rent a vehicle and explore, but you can't really bang a baby about in the back of a bumpy car all day, so we are trying to really find a way to have a fab time. I just feel a bit nervous about all the stuff I read about potholes, dreadful roads, really, really lon journeys from a to b.

Any experienced advice would be so welcome

      Thanks

      Poulla
