    • Day Trip to Niagara Falls from Toronto

Niagara Falls Jan 22, 2016 at 5:45 AM

My husband and I will be staying in Toronto for 3 days in June 2016. We would like to make a day trip to Niagara Falls but, as we don't have a car and we prefer not to hire one, we wondered what would be the best way to do the trip. We are happy to use public transport if that is a feasible option. Otherwise, we would do a tour but would like some recommendations on what company to use.

City of Waterfalls Hamilton by bus

Province of Ontario Jan 28, 2016 at 4:17 AM

      Hi,

I will be visiting Hamilton coming from Niagara Falls but with one little problem. I don't own a drivers license so can only use public transport.

What i saw is that waterfalls like 'Webster' and 'Tews' only have bus 5 coming near it but still a 30 minute walk along a pretty big road without a sidewalk?

Albion Falls seems to be reachable easier what i can see?

Any tips on the must see waterfalls which are reachable by bus end of March?

      Thank you in advance!

      Vincent

My husband and I will be travelling from Ottawa to Toronto in mid-June 2016. We don't have a car and don't want to fly, so thought we would either take a bus or the train. Both take a similar amount of time and cost around the same, so we thought we would ask for some advice on whether one option or the other would provide the best scenery on the way. Any advice would be most appreciated.

    • midtown or harbour area?

      Toronto Jan 23, 2016 at 7:12 AM

      Hi,

I want to book a holiday in Toronto for June but I am not sure where it's best to stay.

I know that all the hotels state that the subway makes it easy to get around but I have looked at a few places down by the harbour (Westin, CN tower apartments mostly due to the views) but I have also looked at hotels more towards Midtown (Novotel and Holiday Inn) and near one of the parks.

Which area would be the best to stay in terms of area (I wouldn't have a clue if anything was placed in a not so nice area), getting to sights and shopping and food in general?

      Thank you

      Fall Season: Eastern Canada

      Ottawa Jan 4, 2016 at 10:20 AM

Myself, plus two companions, are currently planning a trip to the Eastern Canadian cities of Montreal, Ottawa, & Quebec City for September 2016. I wish to travel at a time when the 'Fall Season' is in progress; not earlier. My companions, however, insist that Mid- September would be fine. I am saying: LATE September / early October. I am aware that Canadian Thanksgiving would be the PEAK time to visit in respect to Fall Season, but for reasons irrelevant to this post we have to travel PRIOR to Thanksgiving. I have shown my companions the average temperature readings for the region- but they still believe 'Mid- September' rates as 'Fall Season', while I myself do NOT. So my question is: Would Two weeks make that much difference really ? ( My guess is: Yes, it would) - Thank You !

      Hi all,

I will be visiting Ontario (Toronto) at the end of March. Historical sites / buildings have always be a key part of my travels. I don't own a car or have a drivers license so am bound by trains / busses. What are villages / cities roughly around Lake Ontario you can recommend with good public transport connections?

    • Driving from Toronto to Montreal, ideas on where to stop and seeing the thousand islands?

Province of Ontario Aug 19, 2015 at 2:21 PM

      Hi all!

I wrote out a long post but when I submitted it said I had to verify my email and I think I lost the text.

Either way, hello! I've been reading VT for a few weeks now and just signed up.

I had a quick question regarding driving from Toronto to Montreal. I am wondering if anyone has experience on taking the scenic route to view the thousand islands. Do I just travel on the 401 highway all the way to Montreal, or do I have to get off somewhere?

Also, it's a 6-7 hr drive. I'm just wondering if anyone recommends stopping somewhere along the way. Kingston looks like a good idea for a walk and a meal to break down the drive, however it seems like it might be a hassle getting into the city as I'm not too confident in my driving in Canada. (I'm from the UK).

I would appreciate any help on this! Thanks all.

2 night trip with 3 year old and 4 month old

Algonquin Provincial Park Aug 11, 2015 at 1:04 PM

Looking for suggestion for a good route/lake to go back country with kids. My husband and I are fairly experienced with canoe and portages but this is our first time with kids. Ideally somewhere with good swimming and sandy/beachy sites that you can walk out and swim. Would like to keep the trip out to a site to 4 hours max....little nervous about taking 4 month old out to middle of nowhere.... They should be fine in canoe for an hour or so....hopefully! Any advice/suggestions welcome! We are going in 2 weeks-August 28-30

We are flying into Buffalo airport going to Niagara falls Canada side and was wondering what would be the best transport from the airport? Also what is the procedure when crossing the border into Canada, are you pulled over in your vehicle or do you have to enter a building? Do you know how strict and how long it takes to go through? Thank you :)

      Toronto around Easter next year

      Toronto Jul 19, 2015 at 6:56 AM

      Hi all,

I'm planning to visit Toronto at the end of March just around Easter. Found some information that most shops are only closed on 'Good Friday' and there is not really a second Easter day. Are the other days around Easter easy with a lot of shops open and does it get really crowded with tourists?

      Thanks in advance,

I am planning to stay at Mississauga for a few days and hang out places nearby that is entertaining and has other recreations as well. I wish to stay in well furnished hotel (prefer to have budget rooms) that has Mexican restaurants nearby.

      Transportation Around Niagara Falls, Ontario

      Niagara-on-the-Lake Jul 12, 2015 at 3:10 PM

      Mahalo Folks!

We will visit Niagara Falls (with two seniors), in a couple of weeks. While they are both in overall good health, one has a weakened knee and the other a less than youthful lower back. Please share about the walking involved at Niagara Falls, Ontario? Is transportation (taxis, shuttles) available and convenient? We have accommodations at the Marriott Falls View, and I was wondering about the walk to the Falls, boat tours, and casino.

      Many thanks!

What is the current process for Customs and Immigration at Toronto Pearson from the US?

      Toronto May 8, 2015 at 2:07 PM

Guys, who has recently been through Terminal 1 at Pearson from outside Canada? The Official Spousal Unit is flying from DFW to Pearson this weekend, and we are trying to determine the process for Customs and Immigration.

We have often been through C & I in T3 on American Airlines, but not on Air Canada, a different terminal.

In the US, we now have Automated Passport Control kiosks ( cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/a... ) which supposedly speed things up nicely. But so far, what little that I can find suggests that the kiosks in Toronto for inbound people is only for Canadian residents. The airport website, Canadian Immigration website and Air Canada website have all been remarkably unhelpful...

      Anyone with recent experience?

A few basic questions for a future first time visitor to Toronto!

      Toronto Apr 4, 2015 at 3:09 PM

      Hello everyone!
I'm doing a little pre-trip research on Toronto and had a few questions which I hope ye can help me with!

Is there only 1 airport near the city? And I presume that has several terminals?
What is the area of Corktown like? I presume that is well outside the touristy area/most popular districts?
Is it fair to say that the Downtown area is where it's all happening?
Should we base ourselves there to be close to all the main attractions?
Are there any areas of Toronto which should be avoided? (Sorry if this is a silly question!)
Are there regular daily organised visits to Niagara Falls from Toronto?
Can you tell me the best (and the biggest) shopping malls in Toronto? Starting with the most central :)
Hotels are looking very very pricey in the Downtown area. Is this the norm? Are there more reasonable mid-range options also located centrally?

As you can see from these questions, I am struggling in these early stages of my research :)
