Hi All, I am hoping someone can help me. I am a Brit who very excited to be coming to Halifax in June. I am looking to hire a car. I have looked on all the usual big company sites and their cars are good but standard. Does anyone know of any specialist car rental places that might hire out someting like a Mustang or a vintage car? All help appreciated! Thanks!
I live in Toronto and on a fixed income. I am thinking of visiting relatives that live in and around Yarmouth this summer from sometime in late July/early August for between a week and a half to 2 weeks. I do not drive and would be looking to arrive in Halifax late morning/early afternoon hoping to be in Yarmouth no late then 6pm and when I come back to leave Yarmouth mid/late morning and hoping to arrive in Halifax mid afternoon. Since I am on a fixed income I am looking for hopefully for no more then 100. Is this possible and if so can anyone post any info I should know, etc. Thanxs in advance.
I'll be a week at Halifax from May 8. Anybody interested in a joined dinner meet or a tour to Peggy's Cove/Lunenborg in the weekend (May 12 or 23)? Also open to other suggestions, PJ
My chiropractor and his family are going on the Disney to Canada cruise (5 days from NY) in July. Since I spent over a month in Nova Scotia in the fall of 2010, he asked me for advice on where he could go in Halifax, when they are in port. He wasn't sure how many hours they have. Has anyone done this cruise? He has 5 children ranging in age from 10-18. I only spent 1 day in Halifax, as I spent the majority of my trip in Cape Breton. I suggested the Citadel as a good option that the parents, as well as the kids would enjoy. He mentioned they may also do some kayaking. Does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks!
Hi, A few years ago we were visiting Sydney and watched a few teens dancing near the markets. I'm looking for the name of the type of dance the kids were doing (all I remember is that they wore pants with very wide legs and big stars on them).
where would someone find a minister or something to perform a marriage in Sydney for a couplke out of towners?
Hi there, My Husband is heading into Halifax for a few days next month and I am on a mission for him to pick up some sashimi grade tuna and salmon for homemade sushi, as well as a few other ingredients...no japanese restos here in Central Nfld :( I found a website for the Fisherman's Market, and was wondering if that would be the place to go? Thanks!
Hello again... Could someone let us know a nice place to stay in the Anapolis Valley (April 2012)? Is there anything happening during mid April? Appreciate your assistance.
We will be landing in Halifax at midnight(April 2012). Leaving for PEI next morning. Could someone tell us the name of a hotel close by going in that direction. Thank you so much:)
I need to get from airport to IWK hospital, what is the best transportation to take?
What are the options of getting to Peggy's Cove from Halifax, other than renting a car? Is there any form of public transportation/tourist buses that go there from Halifax? Thanks!
Hiya. Flying into Halifax & staying the night on Sept 15. Want to visit the Maritime Museum, Alexander Keiths tour, Maxwell Plum, HMS Sackville, Sport Hall of Fame & the Citadel, if I can. We have a small Bichon Frise dog and wanted to take him with us as we have a cottage in PEI and have no one to leave him with. Will the Games allow us to take him on leash into the grounds? Regards Peter
What is the closest campground to Citadel Hill. trying to go to metallica and need someplace cheap to stay.
My girlfriend is a huge Reba McEntire fan and she's got the tickets for Reba's concert on Sept.26. I would like to surprise her with backstage passes for our anniversary because I know she'd love to meet Reba (she's like the biggest fan ever, all we ever listen to is Reba lol, nothing else is allowed), but I have no idea where to look for them. I'm willing to pay, of course, and I know there are about a dozen passes given away for every concert, but I need your help as to where I could get them? Do radio stations maybe give them in a competition, or should I look at the venue? Any help would be appreciated, it would be a great gift for our 3rd anniversary :). Thanks!
Hello, My wife and I will arrive in Halifax this Friday, around 9pm and will leave on Tuesday, around 6 pm. What will be the best itinerary to see as much of Nova Scotia as we can and the most enjoyment out of it? We plan to rent a car. Is is better to spend the first night in Halifax or leave it immediately? Never been there, know almost nothing about the region. Thank you.
Hello! What are my options of getting to the town from the airport? Is there a shuttle bus? Thank you!
Hello! Could you tell me if it is considered safe for a female to travel to Halifax for a few days? Is the town considered safe and what should a female tourist know when visiting? Thank you!
I will be travelling to Halifax on Easter weekend but can't find any tour companies that are in operation this time of the year. Guided city walking tours and other fantastic sights...Bay of Fundy, Lunnenberg, and many more
My husband and I are driving to Nova Scotia for the first time. We plan 2-3 days seeing the Bay of Fundy shore, and I'm wondering whether to go to Advocate Harbor, Cape D'or area in Nova Scotia or to the New Brunswick side of the bay from St. Martin to Alma and Hopewell. We are an artist and a photographer, in our 60s and unable to hike a lot (about a one mile limit). Which will offer more beautiful scenery that will be easy for us to access?
My wife and I are in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Nova Scotia and St. John's in 2011, to include Cape Breton (I think we can skip PEI). We are in our mid-30's, like beer & pub grub, traditional Celtic music sessions (but we prefer to have a pint and listen rather than contra or square dance). We also like picturesque cities and villages on water (rivers, bay, coast or beaches), some hiking/outdoors, scenic drives, and nice but inexpensive lodging. I don't plan on renting a car for the days spent in Halifax or St. John's but would rent a car to explore the rest of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. Should I try and include PEI or is it OK to skip? I think we'll get our fill of music, culture & pubs in Halifax and St. John's, and the scenery in Nova Scotia & Cape Breton easily equals or exceeds PEI, right? A tentative itinerary is below. Does it look OK? Could any days be cut out? I'm wondering if I really need to overnight in either Wolfville or Lunenburg? -Fly from home (Virginia, USA) to Halifax -3 nights Halifax (music, pubs, culture, etc.) -rent car -1 night Mabou, Cape Breton (music, Red Shoe pub, distillery nearby) -1 night Ingonish area, Cape Breton (beaches, along Cabot Trail) -1 night Iona area, Cape Breton (river nearby & Cabot Trail) -1 night Wolfville, Nova Scotia (wineries, college town, Bay of Fundy) -1 night Lunenburg, Nova Scotia (picturesque small village) -Return car -Fly to St. John's Newfoundland - 3 or 4 nights in St. John's (music, pubs, culture, etc.) -Fly from St. John's to home thanks!
I'm wondering what the best way is to combine Halifax, Cape Breton and St. John's Newfoundland into one trip? I live in the USA and would be flying out of the Washington DC area. I wonder if it's possible to book a flight to St. John's that connects in Halifax, so that the Halifax stopover could be extended for several days to allow time to explore Nova Scotia/Cape Breton, before heading on to St. John's. I figure that I would only need a rental car to get from Halifax to Cape Breton. Ideas?
Can anyone tell me what the best shuttle service would be from Halifax International Airport to Kingsburg, NS? And what would the price be for two traveling together? Thank you.
Hey everyone, had a directions questions for my upcoming trip to the maritimes. I will be spending a night in Grand Pre and the next night in Moncton. On the way, the plan is to stop at Joggins, check it out, then head to Moncton. My first question is what's the best route to Truro? Google maps suggests Hwy 236. I'd like something scenic but not so far out of the way, that I'll be driving several extra hours. Is Hwy 215 worth the drive? When I get to Truro, I will was thinking heading up 104 to Amherst, then exiting and heading to Amherst. Is that the best route? Like I said, if there is a scenic route that isn't extremely far off the beaten track, I'd take it. We're driving the Cabot Trail a few days before this, which will likely satisfy the need for a really scenic drive. Thanks for the help!
What can you tell me about The Silver Dart Lodge and The Normaway Inn?
After some indecision earlier in the year we have sorted travel plans and have managed to fit in two weeks in NS after visiting friends on Vancouver Island. We are coming in September, have booked a hire car from Halifax and have 2 weeks. We are interested in music, wildlife and scenery. We would like to spend some time on the Cabot Trail. We would like to stay in B&B's but want to spend two or three nights in some places rather than all one night stops. We do want to catch some live music (hubby is a musician) and perhaps the odd Ceilidh. I have found 'the NormawayInn' at Margaree which looks as if it might be a good place to stay for a couple of nights - Anyone been there? I would be really grateful for ideas for possible itineries. We want to see as much as we can, but also want to have time to enjoy the area, and the people rather than doing a whistle stop tour driving miles every day.
