Where is the best place to stay near the beach. I want to look around to buy a large lot with white beach.
I notice that you joined VT but failed to edit your profile so we don't know where you are from. Anyway Samar is famous for white sandy beaches on the east coast but unfortunately the roads on Samar are probably the worst in the Philippines, and the infrastructure on the east coast is very basic. However things are changing in Samar and new resorts are opening up as there is jungle, rock climbing, cave systems, waterfalls and surfing besides beautiful beaches. I suggest if you are really interested in purchasing a beach lot go there now, spend a month exploring the east coast before prices escalate, for sure this would be a good investment for the future.

Hello there and welcome to VT, I hope you enjoy it here. I am writing this in the Visayas where I have been for a few months. I have not been to Samar yet (later this month hopefully) but I would offer this piece of advice. Your new profile does not indicate your nationality but if you are not Philippino you, generally speaking, can not own land by law. I have heard of setting up corporations etc. but beware it is a legal minefield. I have heard some horror stories here about people sinking money into property only to find out they owned nothing at all. Be very careful and do your homework first. Hope this assists, fergy.

If you are NOT a Filipino, read this before making your plans to buy a property: real-estate-guide.philsite.n.... If you are a Filipino, I suggest you personally go or write an intent to invest in a property at the local government unit. That way, the responsible staff will be able to guide you, and even help you double check if the prospective property has a valid land title.

Thanks for backing up my suggestion Cyndy. Buying property in the Philippines as a foreigner is a nightmare.

I have the impression that this guy is a filipino, but i have several properties in the Philippinesb (in my wifes name, but if u r married ur name goes on the title too, and you are supposed to be protected by law and entitled to half if u separate, and entitled to all if you make appropriate arrangements through a lawyer) and as long as you have a trustworthy wife or acquaintance that you can trust it is not such a nightmare. You must go to the city hall who will verify that the title is valid and have no leans against it, this should be indicated on the 3rd and 4th pages of the title. If you are buying from a family all sons and daughters must sign. Fortunately my brod in law is an attorney and we have relatives in city hall who can help us, but yes it can be a nightmare as a foreigner cannot really own property here, you must form a corporation or put in someone else's name, which is illegal but there are ways to get around this, all involving money but i must point out that if i was a foreigner with no trustworthy wife i would never consider investing in property here.

David, you make my point better than I ever could. Brother in law an attorney, "friends" in City Hall, you are on easy street or relatively easy street here. I wish you well.

Hi there. There are many places that you can find a beach lot to buy. But I agree with what everyone has said here. If you are a foreigner, buying a property and putting it under your name is not a possibility. If you are planning to get married to a Pinay, you can buy a lot but it will still be under her name. Also I suggest that you before buying, research and browse around. Stay for a few weeks and get the feel of the place, the people, the community.. Also, do not go public with your intent to buy. Most definitely, you will get swarmed by neighbors who knows someone who knows someone who is selling a lot. Everyone will want to get commission off your purchase and the prices will go higher. I suggest you contact a broker and tell him/her of what you are specifically looking for. Again, also do the research for yourself even if you have the broker to help you. Here is a site that can help you with your research. I do not know if there is Samar lot there but you can contact brokers. placefinder.ph/category/234/...
