      Namur or Charleroi

      Namur Jan 5, 2011 at 10:22 AM

      Hi friends and happy 2011!

I'll be travelling from Maastricht to Charleroi to take the plane there, and I'm wondering where to spend some hours, in Namur or Charleroi, what do you suggest? (or a few hours in Namur and a few hours in Charleroi)

      Thanks.

    • travel from Paris to Namur

Province de Namur Sep 1, 2010 at 11:11 AM

I need a quick answer, as I already made an unrefundable reservation for a hotel in Namur for Monday, October 6. I am flabbergasted by the rail prices. On the Benelux rail map, a direct line is shown between Paris and Namur and economy train prices are listed on Raileurope and Thalys, but checking these out only the fast trains are given with the lowest prices around 100 euros. I'll be in Paris on Saturday, where I'll go to the Gare du Nord to check out schedules and prices. I hope to find some slow, cheap train.
I already cancelled going from Paris to Luxemburg, as this was too costly.

      From Brussels to Dinant

      Dinant Sep 11, 2008 at 3:52 PM

Hi, need help from both locals and tourists: I'd like to go to Dinant from Brussels while in Belgium. I've checked Belgium trains website, and it shows transit time 1h42min, no change of trains (from Brussels Nord Station), but at the end it shows one train and one person walking (?!!) What is that? Does it mean I need to walk a lot from the train station to the city centre? Could please somebody explain? Thanks!!

Battle reenactment 8 Sept 2007 Namur park?

      Namur Sep 8, 2007 at 12:58 PM

While visiting our son who now lives in Brussels, we took a day trip to Namur. Very beautiful & interesting place. While exploring the Citadel, we heard explosions from the town. We stumbled upon a military reenactment in one of the parks. There were four marching armies depicted with flintlocks, muskets, drums and flutes. Does anyone know what era and battle and perhaps armies were portrayed on this Saturday afternoon? Is this a regular event in Namur?

    • Rochefort area questions

      Dinant Apr 12, 2006 at 7:43 AM

I am planning to visit the Rochefort area this summer, my wife and I are trying to decide whether it would be better to stay in Rochefort proper or would it be easier to stay in a larger town like Dinant and driving (we will have a rental) to Rochefort. Our main purpose for the visit is to check out the Abbaye de Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy. Any information would be appreciated.

      Caves in the Ardennes

Province de Namur Jan 30, 2004 at 9:11 AM

Hi! There are lots of caves in the Belgian ardennes - too much to visit in only few days! I've already the Caves of Han on my list, and perhaps also the caves of Hotton. Does anyone know the Cave Pont D'Arcole (in Hastier) and the Cave Lorette-Rochefort (in Rochefort)? It seems that they are not so known and I wonder if they could be nice, too!
