      Tents

      Morocco Yesterday

We will be going on tour in Morocco. One night we sleep in a tent camp. "Furthermore, via a dirt road to Merzouga dunes with beautiful landscape where you admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight in tents, under the big sky of the south center of the vast desert." Does anyone know what we can expect in these tents?

I would like to rent a normal car (not a 4x4) to travel through Morocco. Does anyone know if it's allowed to drive up till M'semrir in the Dadès valley with this car? And up till Merzouga?

      Thanks a lot!

Fez to Marrakesh or Marrakesh to Marrakesh

      Morocco Apr 23, 2013 at 6:44 AM

      Hi,

My friend and me are thinking of a 3 days / 2 night trip (including dessert safari). We are thinking of either fez to marrakseh or marrakesh to marakesh. Would appreciate suggestion or advise on which is more worthwhile to pursue?

Separately, whatis the immigration (visa on arrival) process like for morocco? Is it anything like in Cairo (I personally ffound the immigration process in Cairo a bit chaotic with some agents seem to have "express" lane)?
      Thanks heaps before hand.

    • help with planning a trip to morocco

      Morocco May 11, 2013 at 2:10 PM

Hey! we are a family of 7 age 17-55 travelling to Morocco October. we have 9 days, landing and departing from Casablanca and our limitation is that on the nights of day 3,4,5,6 we have to sleep in Marrakesh since one of us is attending a conference there (the rest are free to do one-day tours from day 4 and on)

we are looking for a cool and adventurous trip with nature, history an culture.

This is an offer we got from a travel guide -- i would love to hear recommendations and comments from people who have been to Morocco recently about this plan..

      thank you!!! / Uri

      ===================

      the plan:

Day 1 Arrive in Casablanca airport drive straight to Rabat for brief visit of the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V and then on to Fez for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 A full day today to visit the oldest Imperial city in Morocco with the oldest university in the world. Our day begins in the old Medina with Fez El Bali - old Fez - the
Andalusian and the Karaouine quarter with its dyers and tanners and artisans working in the style of their forefathers.
As the day progresses we take in the Mellah - the Jewish quarter, with its old cemetery and the Royal Palace. A fascinating day finishing back in the hotel for overnight and the possibility to eat dinner out..

Day 3 Drive South to Marrakech via Beni Mellal. A scenic route taking us through some of the prettiest scenery of the Middle Atlas. Check in to our Marrakech hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Morning tour of Marrakech taking in the historical sites and then afternoon free maybe to visit the Souks and the fabulous Djemma El Fna Square with its’ fortune tellers, dancers, snake charmers and water sellers. This square really is the heart of Marrakech. You will have time to wander around or just sit in one of the roof top cafes surrounding the square. Sit and enjoy this incredible picture postcard – a living theatre with the Atlas mountains as a backdrop before returning to our hotel for overnight. Or maybe take a Caleche (Horse drawn carriage) and visit the Majorelles Gardens made famous by Yves St. Laurent. Dinner can be taken outside.

Day 5 An early start today for Essaouuira, once known as Mogador. The "Purple Islands" off the coast were used by the Romans for the dying of their togas and we explore the old Medina little changed since its Portuguese occupants left; Back to Marrakech for overnight stay. Dinner again can be taken outside.

Day 6 Free day today or maybe a High Atlas adventure with jeeps and mules and some of the most spectacular scenery in Morocco with views over Mount Toubkal. Back to Marrakech and overnight with dinner outside.

Day 7 and 8 Leave for the South via Ouarzazate with its Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah made famous in many Hollywood films finally ending the day in Zagora and ultimately th Sahara Desert. Overnight with dinner in tents. Breakfast early the next morning to see the sunrise over the dunes and then set off for the return to Marrakech where we take dinner and overnight.

Day 9 Depending on the flight time leave for Casablanca airport

      Getting from Casablanca to Chefchaouene

      Chefchaouene Sep 25, 2012 at 9:42 PM

Hi, I will be arriving in Casablanca around 1pm in early December. Is there a CTM bus that I can take in the afternoon to go to Chefchaouene? Where do I go to take the CTM bus and what time does it depart? Is it a direct bus or do I need to stopover in Tetouan to catch another bus? (I suppose it will be late in the night by then?) Any website I can got to book the ticket in advance? I'm a single female traveller, so wondering what is the quickest and safest way to get to Chefchaouene. If needed, I may stay overnight in Casablanca for one day before heading to Chefchaouene the following morning. Grateful for any advice. Thanks!

      ... Tangier > Chefchaouen > Tangier ... in 1 DAY ...

      Chefchaouene Apr 19, 2011 at 11:58 AM

I am joining a Morocco Tour and was able to squeeze in 1 extra day to visit Chefchaouen. We arrive in Tangier @ 10:30pm (at night) and leave for Chefchaouen the next morning. I have only 1 day to travel in + out + explore Chefchaouen. Would be happy to just explore the Medina! I see a LOT of information for getting FROM Tangier TO Chefchaouen. But having some trouble finding transportation options FROM Chefchaouen TO Tangier. Q1. What time does the CTM bus depart from Chefchaouen TO Tangier? Q2. I can not seem to access the CTM website. How / where can I book CTM bus seats in advance? Q3. Can purchase tickets from Tangier TO Chefchaouen (and vice versa) from ANYWHERE in Morocco? Ex. while I am in Casablanca or Marrakech - purchase round-trip tickets FOR Tangier > Chefchaouen > Tangier. Q4. In case I miss the bus, can I hire a taxi from Chefchaouen TO Tangier? And where / how can I do this? Is there a place / station/ road I can grab a taxi? Q5. I read somewhere that Sundays are extremely quiet in Chefchaouen b/c shops are closed on Sunday? Is that true? Unfortunately, I can only visit Chefchaouen on a Sunday before flying out. Q6. Other transportation opinions FROM Chefchaouen TO Tangier is greatly appreciated! Please help! Please + Thank You!!!

      Transport to/from Chefchaouen

      Chefchaouene Aug 16, 2007 at 3:41 PM

Can someone tell me: 1. Approximately what time and how many buses depart for Chefchaouen from Tangier (I read somewhere that there's only 2) 2. If the above is true, then I might take a taxi, roughly how much is a taxi cost from Tangier to Chefchaouen? 3. Approximately what time and how many buses depart for Fes from Chefchaouen (again I read somewhere that there's only 2, in the afternoon) I just want to get a general idea...thanks!

Can I do it as a day trip from Spain?

I've never been to Morocco and Tangier is starting to sound a little scary. Is Chefchaoune do-able as a day trip from Algeciras? I'm thinking I might just want to skip through Tangier if I can go to Chefchaoune for a day trip. Is there a good bus that goes from Tangier to Chefchaoune? Thanks
