    • Non-Smoking Options?

      Nashville 5 hours ago

Going to Nashville for FanFest. I want to visit a few honky tonks. Is there any such thing as a non-smoking honky tonk downtown? Are there some that are better ventilated than others? I am also presuming that because of the age of them that most will have no air conditioning. Is that right? Any suggestions would be appreciated and would cut down on endless rambling around. Also do the majority of restaurants have a non-smoking section?

Myrtle Beach May 2, 2013 at 2:16 AM

Hi 3 friends and myself are heading to Myrtle beach at the end of the month to work. We have a motel confirmed but are trying to find a condo/apartment with cooking facilities etc. Also we are confused about Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. Which one would be better for j1 students in terms of nightlife,jobs,accommodation....
Is north myrtle beach more of a golf/upclass resort? We are finding it hard to get accommodation in the main myrtle beach area. Any info greatly appreciated.

Great places for good R&B or Swing Dancing?

Las Vegas Apr 27, 2013 at 9:02 AM

Hi, I'm off to LV for the week, visiting family and I enjoy dancing and good music more than gambling. Shows are expensive, too. Any ideas for good places to hear R&B or Django jazz? Or how about Lindy or east coast swing dancing?
Would love meeting up with locals over drinks - where do they go?

    • Itinerary help Seward or Valdez for glacier kayaking

      Alaska Apr 26, 2013 at 3:18 PM

We have planned out our time in Alaska with the exception of the part around choosing either Seward with kayaking at the Aialik Glacier or Valdez with kayaking at Prince William Sound.

We arrive in Anchorage at 6am in June and the options we are deciding between are:

      1. Day 1 Drive to Seward, maybe do a glacier hike at Exit Glacier. Day 2 take the all day water taxi / glacier paddling to Aialik glacier (Liquid Adventures). Day 3 return through Anchorage and drive up to Healy for 2 nights to visit Denali NP. Day 4 shuttle to Wonder Lake in Denali NP. Day 5 drive to Tok. Day 6 drive to Kluane NP, day 6 drive to Haines.

      2. Day 1 Drive to Healy to visit Denali NP. Day 2 shuttle to Wonder Lake in Denali NP. Day 3 drive to Valdez. Day 4 glacier paddling to Columbia glacier in PWS. Day 5 drive to Tok. Day 6 drive to Kluane NP, day 6 drive to Haines.

From what we have read, Seward has more wildlife but while the paddling at Aialik may be better it is definitely more expensive, though there may be a reason for this I.e it is better?. We miss out of the scenic Glenn Highway and Richardson Highway.

If we skip Seward and go to Valdez the drive appears to be more scenic but maybe we are sacrificing wildlife and the glacier paddling doesn't seem as good or hyped up.

If anyone has done these 2 variations of itinerary we would really appreciated input as it is hard to sort out the best option with tradeoffs... driving scenery versus best paddling versus wildlife etc. Also the road conditions, Glenn and Richardson Highway to Tok or around Fairbanks, Alaska Highway to Tok.

After Haines, we are dropping the car (one way hire with Avis) and travelling on the AMHS to Juneau, Gustavus (for Glacier Bay), Sitka, Wrangell and Ketchikan. We are not sure if what we may see in the second part of the trip changes which of the options we are best to do out of Anchorage.

    • Presidents Quarters Inn- Perfect Spot in Savannah?

      Savannah Apr 23, 2013 at 12:28 PM

      Hey fellow travelers!

My wife and I have been looking into staying in Savannah for a weekend getaway and have been keeping an eye out for great places to stay. We're really interested in the bed and breakfast inn idea. I've seen some good reviews for Presidents Quarters Inn, but wanted to find out more information. Their rooms look absolutely charming and I've heard that they believe in true Southern hospititality, but I've got a few questions.

      1. Is the location ideal? What are some of the great hot spots nearby?

      2. What seasons/times of year should we avoid? When is the best time to stay there?

and lastly 3. What's your favorite thing about the Presidents Quarters Inn? What makes it unique?

      Thanks!

    • One night backcountry hike. Is this possible?

Glacier National Park Apr 22, 2013 at 6:25 PM

We want to take the Highline Trail to site GRN(Granite Park) then the next morning take Swiftcurrent Pass to Many Glacier.

      1) Am I reading the map right that the Swiftcurrent Pass trailhead is right at Many Glacier?
      2) Can we leave our car at Logan Pass or Many Glacier and shuttle to one or the other?
      3) Is it better to start at Logan Pass or Many Glacier? (It looks like they are the same distance to GRN)

We are going mid-August and plan to spend two nights in Glacier NP. We want to do this backcountry camping one night and spend one night in Many Glacier campground, but I've heard some horror stories about finding a site there (We work at Disney and the last thing we want to deal with is crazy pushy tourists). Should I just avoid camping there? Also what is a good runner up? (We are tent/hammock camping)

I am looking for something special in Providence.

by wroclawiak Online Now Sep 15, 2012 at 3:02 AM

Hi there I live in a town called Wroclaw in Poland. I've found something what could be common to our cities. We have a fountain called "Bear Fountain", that was made by a German sculpor Moritz Geyger in 1904. Wroclaw was German and its name was Breslau at that time. Geyger made a copy of the Bear and the copy should be now somewhere in the Brown University in Providence. The Bear sculpture in Providence has a label where you can probably read that the sculpture was made by Geyger and it is a copy of Breslau Bear or something like that. If you have time could you check it for me. Thank you. Please read my review about it too: "RYNEK - Bear Fountain" - The Main Square - Rynek Tip by wroclawiak.

Help me complete my short relaxing Providence weekend itinerary

by sgny Online Now Jun 1, 2008 at 10:33 AM

Suprising my wife with with a birthday weekend in Providence. Taking ferry from Orient Point, NY to New London, Ct. and then off to Providence. I'll probably tell her then, where we are going. Arriving June 20th about 8pm to the Courtyard. What is a nice area to grab a casual dinner and walk around for a couple of hours? On June 21st Waterfire is the evening entertainment. We will have a nice dinner (possibly Cafe Nuovo but other suggestions welcome) and then a 9:10pm gondola ride. Looking for a nice casual paced itinerary for Saturday afternoon. I'm usually a VT junkie when planning our trips but I promised her the next trip would be nice and relaxing. I promised her we would not climb any church towers or massive hills on our next trip. We will also have a couple of hours on Sunday to explore. Thanks in advance.

My flight gets in at 6:30 and train leaves at 6:50, so unless the flight gets in very early, there's no chance of catching it. (how long does it take in a taxi from boston airport to backbay station?) second, I'm concerned as the next train after that does not get in until 9:50 - is it possible to catch a taxi from boston to providence and would this be expensive? otherwise is there anything in the local area of amtrak boston that I could do for a couple of hours (!) I would really appreciate advice to save a boring wait! I don't drive..
