Hi all, I will be in the provence region for 6 days - 3.5 days in nice and 2 days in Marseille. It would be great if someone could help me fine tune my "tentative" itinerary there: 1 day - monaco/eze 1 day - nice 1 day cannes. My question is, is Cannes really worth spending a whole day there? Is monaco? Is 1 day enough to see nice or should I cut back from Cannes and spend more time in here? Also, is there anyway to take a whole tour of the Monaco F1 track? I saw it on television that there is some service which, for a fee, will take you around it. Can any of you point me to it and give me tips (i googled in vain, just loads of f1 matches:) ) Thanks in advance for your help! I really appreciate it.
Monaco / Eze is a day, fine Cannes I would combine with a similar pairing - Antibes would be ideal - couple of stops on the train, and if F1 appeals to you the superyachts in the International Yacht Club sound just up your street There is a tour of the F1 track which is an opportunist"entrepreneurial" business. Its about 45- 50 euros to be driven around the track in a 355 red Ferrari. Pictures and write-up on my Monaco "things to do" pages Monaco Things to Do Tips by NiceLife They were still going strong last week but it tends to be during the main season only and not all year round. Hugely popular by all accounts so they dont need to advertise. The queues just form.

Thanks man! Im planning to be there on the 26th of this month. Is that in time for the F1 thing? Also, is one day in nice enough..? Or should I forget about cannes and give 2 full days to Nice? I plan to do the trek to the top at Eze as well as take a tour of a perfumerie, will that leave me with enough time to do Monaco and Eze in the same day? How long do the trek and the tour take?

End of September time for the F1 thing? Good chance they will still be running One day in nice enough..? Aah, that depends. I would do Nice for one day, then decide up you are in for more, or if not, head for Cannes. Very often the weather helps to make the decision too. Cannes looks at its best with blue sky From my take I think two hours is plenty for Eze. Its really not that big,and perfume is just, well, stinky stuff. Monaco you need to get around a bit to see it all - three to four hours plus if you do the Jardin Exotique and grotto, the old town and palace, the Musee Oceonographique and the Casino, plus the essential Cafe de Paris.

Certainly not in the same league as that red Ferrari in post above, but there is a tourist train that does most of the circuit - visitmonaco.com/index.cfm?fu... Just imagine doing the casino corner at all of 15 kph and you do get to see more secenery that way. I think Monaco is worth the trip there, even if its just to say, "I've been there." The area around the princes palace is a maze of tiny streets and the park beside the aquarium is a great spot for an el cheapo lunch. Just wish we'd spent more than 6 hours there. Didnt get to Cannes, but did go to Marseilles for 24 hours. Suggest you might like to base yourself in Nice for a day longer and maybe do the Chemins de Fer de Provence train that goes from Nice. There's a very spectacular town about 1 + hours by train - Entrevaux - fascinating place.

I would recommend the caves in Monaco which are in the same area as the exotique garden ,also the japanese garden , a gift from the Japanese govt. to prince rainier and Grace Kelly on their wedding ,and the palace area,Menton is a lovely town ,like Eze good for a few hours,Cannes is over rated,a morning would do it justice then on to Antibes use the train it is an interesting trip from Nice to Marseilles see www.voyages-sncf.com for timetables and fares try also www.tourisme.fr the French tourist gateway website. One can walk from Antibes to Juan les Pins via Cap d'Antibes, so much to do -so little time eh? Monac IS worth a day.The only way to leave the casino as a millionaire is to go in as a BILLIONARE !The promenade des Anglais in Nice ,the Chateau and the old town are the Highlights, the Chateau is a ruin but great views along the promenade all the way to the airport and over the Harbour (in the opposite direction) so it saves legwork,If poss. I would extend Nice and cut back on Marseilles ,I have stayed in Both and Marseilles has only the harbour and the Chateau d'If to offer unless you are using it as a base camp , bon voyages
