    • Seeking partner for yoga retreat in Mexico

      Mexico Jun 3, 2013 at 6:48 AM

Hi all, I hired yoga retreat in mexico for the week 20 to July 27 and would like to find someone who is going too to this retreat or want to sign up for this yoga trip with me, I've alredy booked it  and I travel by my own, the date is arriving and I would rather have a benchmark for my first trip alone. I'm new at this yoga retreats and also in going to Mexico. I do yoga regularly and I really wanted this experience, but in my circle, no one has vacation that week, so I decided to do the yoga trip alone, because I found very special the idea of doing yoga among Mayan ruins. I have 24 years old, I'm working as a physiotherapist and I'm very quiet and easy  anywhere, so if anyone is encouraged to travel or are already signed up for this yoga retreat in mexico, we can put contact to plan. Also if anyone can give me advice about the destination, the company or what you may believe that can be useful, is welcome. I leave the link of the concrete yoga retreat that I'm doing and let's see if  someone is encouraged! ommretreats.com/es/trips/mex...

Hi, just beginning to plan my next trip. I've decided I want to return to Mexico and I've always wanted to do this train journey. We will have 5 or 6 weeks in Mexico. However, it will need to be Jan, Feb, though the exact dates are flexible. I'm just concerned about the weather at that time. I understand it might be a bit cold. Has anyone done this trip at that time of year? I'm still working on my itinerary but I definitely want to do the train, spend some time in La Paz,, Espiritu Santo, Mazatlan, Zacatecas, and possibly Guanajuato and Morelia. I'm not sure which way round to do it and whether to make a return trip on the train, stopping off on the way. I'd welcome any suggestions of what not to miss. I like walking, photographing birds etc and snorkelling, plus a bit of culture too. I speak pretty good Spanish and have travelled in Central and South America in the past.
All advice appreciated and thanks in advance.

My family of 11 (ages 1 to 59) will be stopping in Progreso in May of this year on the Carnival Elation.
We would like to spend our hours there at the best beach not too far from the port.
We would need transportation and a nice quiet place to play.
      Suggestions?
We do not need alcohol but would love good food for lunch, beach chairs, umbrellas, maybe a pool and other water activities. And I am always open to an affordable massage.
      Thank you for your help.

Secondly, I've read the Progreso beaches are nice but not good for snorkeling - are there snorkeling opportunities in the area, such as in cenotes? Do I bother to bring my snorkeling gear? Thanks!

Is it warm enough to swim and mostly is the sea good for swimming? As well, do you think we would need a car or taking cabs and public buses good enough for traveling around the area and sightseeing?

by mayfirst Online Now Nov 6, 2007 at 7:56 AM

      1. We are staying in Uaymitun for January 2008. So far, we do not plan to rent a car as we've heard that public transportation is plentiful and cheap. I'd love suggestions of day trips we could take. I realize that we are staying in a fairly isolated place so I'm interested in other travelers experiences staying in this area. I'm concerned that I may get bored!! I like to do something interesting at least part of every day and not just lay around the pool/beach. 2. I have to keep in fairly regular touch with my family in Canada as I have an elderly somewhat unwell parent. Where is the closest internet cafe? Is there any wireless access in the area at all? 3. Is it easy to find groceries? Would it be difficult to transport a few large shopping bags in the public bus/combi? Thanks for any and all help!

      First Trip to Yucatan

I visited a web site with properties for sale in the Chicxulub/Progreso area and fell in love with the water, laid back atmosphere, etc. My husband and I are planning a trip to this area at the end of May 2005 to scout the area and see some properties. Do you know anyone else that have made that move? We live in Florida and are tired of the rat race and stress. Are we crazy for wanting to do that? I'm not sure if we can obtain a visa to be able to live permanently in Mexico - we do not plan on working. I will contact the Embasy/Consulate in Miami for more info on this subject. Will it be cheaper to buy a car locally or ship our own; any info along these lines about living there full time will be greatly appreciated.
