We are three friends visiting Crete (3 days)- santorini not ( 2 days) - Mykonos ( one and half day) - Paros ( 2 days)
Please suggest if this is a good itinerary or should we make any changes. We are somewhat on a budget, so please give us guidance as where all to go and is it possible to have one bike for the three of us ....we are safe drivers and petite.
Is it possible to rent a car at the port in santorini without ordering in advance? Since I don't know the exact day, but it will be 1st week of October. will it be more expensive?
We are to travel by ferry from Mykonos to Santorini in end sep 15. The two options are Seajet (Superjet) (0940-1140) and Hellenic Seaways, (Highspeed 4) (1440-1715). So as to spend an additional evening in Santorini, we would prefer the earlier Seajet Ferry. However, the internet is full of negative reviews about this. We are not so much bothered about the sea sickness issue which may have a greater effect on the Superjet being a smaller vessel. However, the issue of dependability and punctuality etc is of major concern to us. Are Superjets really all that bad or are they merely victims of bad publicity launched by competitors. I seek the help of fellow VT members to help solve the dilemma.
Hubby and I are currently lapping up the beautiful Syros Island and due to leave for Paros tomorrow. We managed to just hop off the ferry from Athens, and pick up accommodation from the vendors on the street by the port.
I want to know .. does the same thing apply in Paros where you can just sort out accommodation at the port on arrival? That's the way we prefer to travel but I'd check. If so, does that also apply to most of the other islands in the Cyclades group?
We've loved the beaches of Vari and Galissos in Syros .. any recommendations for beaches in Paros that we should aim for?
Appreciate your help ... LOVE this site!!
Is there a map for this walk or is it signposted so easy to follow?
how do i get to blue diamond bay hotel from the fira airport
Is anyone coming late august 23-28th?))
I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out where certain churches are located. I found the site "Greeka" and a guide to 9 churches in Santorini, but I'm trying to get more specific information on just where these churches are. I've tried to attach a picture of one that really interests me that's in Firostefani. I know Firostefani isn't that big, but I'm not great on finding things, so need some extra help! Can you drive to this church (we're renting a quad bike) or must you drive close and then walk?
Also, I ran across an article that provides GPS coordinates (which I can't understand or get to work) to a church that's supposedly in Oia, but I'm thinking it's really Fira, as it mentions "Gold Street." Isn't that in Fira? It is a church (or maybe two) with salmon belltower and 2 blue domes. The person is standing in front of a gate to (I suppose) a hotel or maybe just a way to get downhill to the church. She says to duck into the alley beside the Minerali jewelry store. Anyone know where this might be? The GPS coordinates start with 36 degrees north and 25 degrees east, which indicates further to me that it's somewhere in Fira - but the numbers aren't in good enough shape for me to determine the rest and enter it into Google Earth..
Also, this may be same church, but I read that there 's a really nice blue domed church with 3 bells in Fira, near Mama Thira's. Can anyone give me more information on that? Looks like the website where I found that is "theplanetd"under photography guide for Santorini.
One more question: I've used Google Maps and less so viamichelin to plot routes on Santorini. Are those times fairly reliable, even if I'm going to some of the lesser tourist-traveled places like Mesa Gonia, Pirgos and Megalochori?
Thankyou & Efharisto tor anyone who can answer my questions!
Can i enquire regarding the current situation and safety in Santorini, considering the situation Greece is in now. Thank you
IMPIS (Institute for the Study and Monitoring of Santorini Volcano) has sent a letter to the members of the Hotel Association Santorini. They want to draw everyone's attention of the status of Red Beach in Akrotiri:
"We would like to inform you and ask you to inform clients of this situation, and that access to the beach is extremely dangerous due to landslides, to avoid any accident with incalculable consequences for the island" They ask the members of the Hotel Association to contact the authorities and to take the nessesary steps to protect visitors from the enormous consequences that will occur in an accident due to a possible landslide.
The authorities have put up signs at the red beach but tourists does not respect these and still walk down. Very soon they will need to put a fence!
I am considering to hire a car for 2 days at Mykonos in the coming late of July. I understand that it is the peak season of tourism in Mykonos. Can anyone suggest me some reputable car rental company ?
Can you always find a bus at the port to Fira, or must get a taxi.
I will be there on july 2 at 3:00 PM.

We will be in Naxos for five nights as part of our trip to Greece in September, and we have decided this might be a place to splurge on our hotel. We have booked most all of our other accommodations, and I know I can look at all kinds of hotel sites, but I'd really like a recommendation for a small hotel or B&B (I know they don't call them that in Greece, but can't think of the term right now) locally owned, that has rooms with patios with a view of the ocean. Anywhere between 100 and 150 euros would probably be our price range, and we're more interested in view, nice and helpful hosts, and not too many stairs, than in any fancy large place.
We would also like the same type of recommendation for Koufonisia if anyone has been there. I understand we can go there without reservations and find a place spontaneously, but I'd like to have some recommendations as a starting point.
Thanks for any help you can give.
we are going to Santorini for 3 nights in July . Please advise the best places to visit .. . Is it really hot summer by end of July?
Would anyone know if it is possible to hire motorbikes in Tinos town?

Wondering what is the best and best value way from the airport to Pollonia and also about ferries to and from Kimolis please :-)
I am interesting in booking a holiday in Santorini tomorrow with my partner and I just wanted to know if this is a good idea as we are black and we do not want to risk being treated unfairly because of colour, can anyone advise me if skin colour is an issue? I don't want to pay all that money for a bad experience.
Any idea to how much red leader cigarettes are please?
we are staying in Tourlos, where is the nearest place to rent a couple of bicycles please?/
For a rich but concise (200-300 pages) guide to the Cyclades -- which covers current conditions, background history, and its classical cultural wealth -- what is the best English-language guide?
I am specially interested in the opinion of those people who have been there and used this guide and found it to be first rate.
I am not worried so much about hotels & ferry schedules, right? :-)
It's the culture, politics, history of this special place.
Thank you for whatever advice you may be so kind as to offer.
Yours most sincerely, -- Eurycleia.
I am going to Santorini in first week of May. I know that there is good bus services there and relatively cheaper. Is there any facility of taking bus pass for 24 hours so that everytime I use bus I don't have to pay.
hi , its driving me crazy- i bought an amazing mens click on bracelet from santorini back in 2005, and sadly lost that bracelet..
for the life of me cannot recall the shop- im assuming it was in Fira..as we were based around there for the week.
all i recall is a grumpy shop owner, his fat tummy hanging out-but amazing jewellery and crafts.
the bracelet was really unique, lots of detail design in it.
if anyone has names and websites for some jewellery stores on santorini plz let me know.
Traveling to Santorini June 17th (flying in -- expensive$$) thought we might get the ferry back to Athens (23rd)
Is it best to buy tickets online OR buy them on Santorini, if so from where ??
We are a group of four going to Greece for nearly 4 weeks in June.
We land in Athens and want to do island hopping from there.
Want to do as much as possible, see as much as possible and make the most of it.
Obviously Santorini, Mykonos and Ios is a must.
Any advice where to go, which islands to visit, which parties are the best, best nude beaches to visit where, etc.
In fact, we don't have an idea where to start planning and where to go, haha!
We are a fun loving bunch, but would like to experience the "real" Greek way of living, not do the whole "tourist" thing.
Any advice for planning our trip?
What is there to do in santorini and how much are excursions
I'm going to santorini in June for two weeks with my girlfriend b&b and was wondering how much money I will need per day if anyone can help?
Will be traveling to Santorini for the first time in October. I am bringing my niece along and want to make it a special trip before she gets married. If money weren't a concern, which location on the island and which hotel would you select?
