What time is the last bus from rethymon to plakias in august, I arrive at 2.00pm August 1st intending to get a taxi to the bus station then bus to Rethymon, then another bus to Plakias staying at the Labyrinth studios(directions please!)
Does anyone know the name of the restaurant that is 2 doors from the Kriti Beach Hotel on the beach road. I'm guessing the address is El. Venizelou 2. It was very near to the Living Room Lounge. I believe it is "something" cafe that serves greek food. We had a lovely lunch there this past summer and I want to put it on my blog and Trip Advisor.
Hi, I am getting married in June 2012 and staying at the Aquila Rithymna Beach. Could anyone recommend a restaurant close to this hotel to host our wedding meal for approx 50 people (this includes children)? Many thanks Nire
did you need a creditcard for that?
Hi! Does anybody know how much should it cost a taxi from Rethymno to Plakias? Thanks!!
How do you get from the Chania airport to Rethymnon cheapest? Is there a bus that goes directly?

Hi All, Planning at very last minute, have bought a travel guide, but unable to find too much info!! I'm arriving in Crete on Thursday morning, and will be based in Rethymnon for 10 days. Could you kindly advise recommended day trips that we could take? Also, would like to plan at least a day trip, perhaps overnight in Santorini whilst we're there, could you please post links to the various travel options? Is it a ferry or a flight away? Also, how's the shopping? Thanks all
Hi, anybody who can translate the text on the photo in my travelogue: members.virtualtourist.com/m... For completness I would like to put it on my travelogue. I assume it is something about restauration of the church on the 3rd of November 1985. Can you help me? Thanks, Christian.
i spent a year in rethymnon in 1987/1988. i taught english at the paragioudakis frontisterion and stayed in a rent room in the old part of the city. my reminiscinces are that although the place was lovely, the winter was pretty grim (wet & windy - just like my native brighton). i used to spend most of my time with the other ex-pats at the why not? bar, sunshine bar, sunset bar (round the city wall), and tasos restaurant on the front, stelios restaurant near the town hall, together with the occasional visit to plakias and georgiopolis. are any of these places still going? i loved it in the summer, and also the students i taught.
I found a good rate at Hotel Brascos in Rethymnon. If you know anything about this place please tell me what you thought of it. Thank you.
Has anyone been/stayed here. Considering it as a 3-5 night base in 2006 for 4 experienced traveller adults and an 11 year old... Thinking of moving on to Frangokastello (for snorkelling for the children among us) and Hora Sfakion (cos we like it!)
Of all the budget hotels in Rethymnon, the only one I can find a valid email address or web site for is Rent Rooms Sea View. For 35 Euros a night it seems like a good deal, though there's no way for me to compare that price to others in town because they are apparently not connected to the internet in any way. If anyone knows anything about this place I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Here's the web site they have: rethymnoatcrete.com/seafront...
After seeing Knossos and the archeological museum in Heraklion, I plan to take the bus to Rethymnon and spend at least one night there before driving down to Plakias for a few nights and then to the southwest part of Crete for the remainder of my visit. I will probably arrive in Rethymnon in the evening. Can someone recommend a good but inexpensive hotel there? Also, is one night enough in Rethymnon or should I stay a second night so I can spend a full day there before heading south? I don't want to be in too big of a hurry, but I also don't want to miss anything if it's worth staying longer. Normally I would not try planning things like this but I need to know when to have my rental car reserved. Thanks.
I am off to the Hotel Dias in three weeks for a lazy week in the sun. Having not travelled for a while (and recently involved in a horse riding accident) I am a little out of touch. Has anybody either been to this hotel or stayed in the local area? If so, can you make any recommendations at all . . .
How long would it take to drive from Chania to Elafonissos? From past experience on Crete, I've learned never to try and figure distances based on klms. Last time I drove the dirt road to Preveli beach... only six km which took about 2 hours and it was such a disappointment to find out at the end of the road that I still had to climb the mountain to get over the other side (which I didn't) or pay the ferryman a handsome sum to take me there (which I also didn't as I hadn't thought to bring enough money with me...) Is Elafonissos worth the trip? Any other must see places en route? Thanks in advance!
Hello all Could someone inform me if there is a local paper in Rethymno which carries job and accommodation adverts? If so, which is its day of circulation? We will be down in Rethymnon next week 27-30/5/03 to attend an interview but I would like to make good use of my time and try to arrange a couple more job interviews. Any idea of the cost of living in Rethymnon? I.e. how much to rent a dyari (one bed flat), how much to budget for food and utilities, and so on? I hope there will be some students there with up to date information or some foreigner workers with great tips! Awaiting your comments... :)
