    • Help me - in need of a day party place?

      Agios Nikolaos Yesterday

Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me. My friend is having her wedding in Crete at the end of the summer, we are staying in Agios Nikolaos and we would like to have a 'hen' party for her. We do not want anything 'tacky', a place that is sophisticated like Ocean Club, Blue Marlin, Nikki Beach - them sort of places. Is there anything like this around this area, we do not mind travelling. Thanks so much!

      Bus: Thessaloniki to Sofia

      Thessaloniki Yesterday

Haven't posted it yet. Anything else I should add?

My wife and I are going to be in Thessaloniki in late September and from there, we are heading to Sofia. I see that there is now train service between the two cities, but I think the bus still looks to be shorter and arrives earlier, which is favourable for us.

I have a few questions about the bus: 1. Where exactly do you catch the bus? Wikitravel says 'You can catch this bus if you continue on an imaginary line at the end of Maria Luisa street. It meets in front of the "cafe" and just a few meters to the left of the entrance to the WC.' Is that correct?

      2. Generally, how is the bus travel on this line? Any idea on how many washroom stops it makes?

      3. We arrive in Thessaloniki four days before departing to Sofia. If we pick up tickets when we arrive, will there likely still be some available? Where do we purchase these tickets?

      Thanks in advance!

Data plan for iPhone in Greece

      Greece Jul 9, 2014 at 4:49 PM

I always get a local sim card whenever I travel. But have sometimes had to put up with some limitations. For example in Italy, we were only able to get one type of prepaid plan because we were tourists, and were not able to choose from a few different ones.

I will be using the data plan extensively since we will be winging it for two weeks with a rental car, and will need to search for sites, hotels etc, and I have to have to access my emails 24/7. I have looked at the websites of the main providers, but none of them have proved helpful with package details and prices. Any help would be great.

Will be landing in Athens, so I'm sure I can find any store once we're in the city, I don't need to get it from the airport.

have our flights and hotels booked.

for the ferryboat between santorini and mykonos there seem to be several competing companies, each offering a variety of seat arrangements at varying costs. is one company any better than any other. and which seating option is best value - not interested in steerage class.

there are multiple websites offering to sell tickets for the ferryboat. is there one preferred site or official site to make sure this is done correctly and with the right people. all the sites look so official.

lastly, very close to renting a car in santorini. can anybody recommend a quality car rental outfit in mykonos?

and yes i do appreciate all the help we have gotten. as k knows, our travelling companions may be very nice people but they are not easy. thanks.

      Lesvos Jul 10, 2009 at 3:58 AM

Hi all. Last minute questions (of a basic nature) due to last minute booking of holiday to Petra!

      1. We are 3 adults, 1 child. How much can we expect to pay for lunch and dinner(child normally eats at least as much as an adult) and how expensive are the drinks?

      2. How are the buses regarding regularity, coverage and cost? Would like to travel a bit, but not enough to warrant hiring a car.

We'll be there in 2 weeks time, so if anyone could answer, that'd be great.

      Cheers!

      Skopelos/Alonissos

      Skopelos Nov 25, 2007 at 5:32 AM

Now booked up for 2 weeks in early July to Skopelos and looking at the possibility of a night on Alonissos. We will be hiring a jeep for a few days to reach those small rocky coves and a boat for a day to reach those with no road access. Before I start contacting companies though, does anyone have any preferences as to hire companies for both the jeep and the boat?
Also I see there are a few boat trips from Skopelos for the day......any in particular that anyone would recommend?
I'd be very interested in an around the island boat trip to help me decide what area I'd need to hire my own boat from as to which bays I need to see. The same applies to Alonissos and any trips to the deserted Islands in the marine park.
When I hire a boat on Skopelos do they allow you to go across to Agh Georgios Isl and Mikro Isl and would combining these with the coastline around Cape Kiourto and southwards then back along to Skopelos town be a possible day trip or would it be a little too much?

Thanks for any help. Greatly appreciated

I am seeing the best flight prices for late March, but am concerned that accomodations will still be closed for the winter? Will it be crazy over Easter or is that a special time to visit and experience the culture? I am going off season to avoid crowds and save money. I am also a jeweler and would love to connect with some local metalsmiths. If anyone has a tip on how to do that beforehand, I would be most grateful.
