Read the forums and transportation tips on Kutna Hora, have some specific questions: - Are there any latest timetable of the trains? - How far is the walk from the train station? - Is it easy to DIY as it seems some traveller share that train announcements are in Czech... and they also found it hard to buy the ticket as ticket seller do not speak in English? - How to get to Sedlec? - How much time to allocate so that we can get back to Prague in time the same day? Thank you!
Trains: this may help - http://www.cd.cz/en/default.htm Walk from train station: Kutna Hora hlavni nadrazi (main railway station)is about 15 minutes walk to the Ossuary (1.3km). To get to Ossuary from station: Head northwest on K Nádraží toward Vítězná, Turn left onto Vítězná, Turn right onto Vítězná/Route 2, Turn right onto Zámecká, Turn right to stay on Zámecká, it's on your right.

Keyboard playing up, I'll put that route in normal English: From station northwest on K Nadrazi toward Vitezna, turn left into Vitenza, turn right into Vitezna/Route 2, turn right into Zamecka, turn right to stay on Zamecka, the Ossuary is on your right.

There are two stations in/near Kutna Hora..Kutna Hora Sedlec and Kutna Hora Mesto. I took the train to Kutna Hora Sedlec, which is much nearer the church. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the station to the church. Basically, get off the train, walk to the road, turn left and keep walking straight on. The church is on your right. There are signs and quite probably you will not be the only people going that way (on my very wet March Wednesday there were about 15 of us on the train, and a coach party at the church itself). From there you can easily walk into Kutna Hora itself (straight on, turn left at the big roundabout)...takes about 25 minutes. Then you can get the train back from Kutna Hora Mesto. It is perfectly easy to use the trains. Announcements (of course they are in Czech...the language of the country is Czech) are not really relevant as platforms (and the station foyer) in Prague display train information. You will find similar displays in Kutna Hora Sedlec station (and, I'm sure, in Kutna Hora Mesto). I bought a return ticket to Kutna Hora Sedlec, so walked back to that station. But I don't think you'll have any problem getting a ticket at any of the three stations. Both Prague and Kutna Hora are well-used to dealing with visitors of all nationalities. It took me most of the day, because of a) the walking and b) Kutna Hora itself having lots of things to explore. I'd suggest you allow yourself at least 5 hours for church and KH, with travel time on top.

There is a train from prague main station at approx 10 am. Return with no changes at 3pm and 5pm. Takes approx 1 hour.Walk from kutna hora main station is easy and only takes about 10 mins. There is a map on the station wall showing where the church is but its easy to find anyway. Dont worry about buying your ticket. Ticket clerks at prague station all speak decent english. Much better and cheaper than going in a guided tour. From the church kutna hora centre can be seen in the distance. About another 20mins walk. Take a taxi back to the station from the main square for about 100 korunas.

Hi again. Ive now checked the timetable and a train leaves pragues main station (hlavni nadrazi) for kutna hora main station daily at 10.05am. Takes 52 mins. No changes. Return is as i said before. 3pm and 5pm with no changes. The 5pm one will give you plenty of time to see everything and get a meal. Dont bother about getting to the other kutna hora stations because its really easy from the main one and if you dont want to walk all the way back then there are always taxis in the main square. By the way the rail fare is really cheap.

Packtarl, by 'main station' I assume you mean Kutna Hora Sedlec? I'm pretty sure I caught the 1005 train there and the 1700 (5pm) back, which may give an idea of time needed (you could 'do' it in less, probably, but I wouldn't).

No i mean Kutna Hora hlavnl nadrazi. Thats where the trains from prague stop. Ive been about a dozen times and to be honest ive never seen any other station except that 1. We always go for a days drinking when visiting prague and walk past the bone church into kutna hora town stopping for a few beers en route. Then a a few more beers and a nice meal before a taxi back to the station. Of course its a lovely town with lots to see but weve done all that so we just go for a day out of prague.

That's ok. I was just using the Anglicised name from googlemaps, for simplicity. It's the same station as the one I used and wrote about above. :-)

I was intrigued so ive just checked it out. Kutna Hora hl.n is apparently in Sedlec so this must also be known by that name. A change here or at Kolin is needed to get to the Mesto station. However the staion signs say hl.n and thats what the announcers call it .

Yes, they would of course. I used the Anglicised version, so the poster could find it on googlemaps if necessary. I'd looked at googlemaps to get the station name and found only that Anglicised version but, very weirdly, googlemaps today gives me only the Czech name. The 'bone church' is marked (today) as 'Kostnice Sedlec', so the poster can see the route from station to church. But we *are* talking about the same station, so that's ok. :-)

Thanks everyone! All the info are very helpful. So I will attempt to catch the 10 AM train and return at 5 PM. To recap, the train station is called Kutna Hora Sedlec or Kutna Hora hlavnl nadrazi, announced as hl.n right? A quick silly question - the absolutely last train is at 5 PM right so I must catch this one no matter what? PS: There is just 2 of us, and I hope no rain! =)

There are several trains to Prague after 1700. It's just that the 1700 seems like a sensible one to catch. Use http://www.cd.cz/en/default.htm to see train times and fares. It starts in English and is easy to use. You could write 'Kutna Hora hlavi nadrazi' on a piece of paper, so you can reassure yourself that the ticket person will know where you mean even if they don't speak English (though I don't think you'll have any problems). Having re-checked googlemaps, Kutna Hora Sedlec is another station very close to the one I used (and the one you want). So ignore me altogether on that aspect and go with Kutna Hora hlavi nadrazi. :-)

Just get the train from prague and it will stop at the correct kutna hora station. You honestly cant go wrong. And as leic says there are more trains but you will find the 5pm will give you plenty of time.
