Hi there everyone. Me and a friend are looking to go away for his 21st birthday which is in december and i have a few questions. Firstly, is december a good time to go there? is it busy? is there much happening? we are looking to go between the 12-17. secondly can anyone recomend a good hotel for us? we dont really care about * ratings, all we want is somewhere clean, however it must have a good location and also no mind people coming in late and drunk. Not that we will be loud, but some places are funny about that sor of thing. thanks in advance. Ashley.

Talking about your mates 21st I am thinking that you can try your luck in Hostel rather than a hotel, cause there you will find other young people who are in Prague exactly for the same reason as you are - To have A Great time!!! It always works cheaper and you would definately not have the angry receptionist knocking ur door if you are slightly more merry.... The best you can do is a search on the net. That is what I always do, but in my case I was looking for stars cause our visit to Prague is special... ;-) http://www.prague-hostels.cz/ here is a site but they quote in czk.. which is 40czk for 1pound. You are looking probably 10-15 quid a night I guess for a nice place. Check for reviews if you can find.The major thing is the private bathroom! We are going to Prague this weekend so I will have a better idea of the place after the 15th of Feb. I think December is going to be busy with all the Christmas celebrations to begin soon...

I was in Prague last December (stayed for 2 months) and it was fairly quiet. I have been to Prague twice now and the first time we went we stayed a Best Western Hotel which is bang in the middle of the town. I found out different deals on www.expedia.co.uk. I got a hotel for 3 nights for 2 people for £150 included flights. You will really enjoy Prague you will never be stuck for anything to do!!!!The good thing about it in December are the xmas markets- really christmassy.

I have also just returned from staying at the Old Prague Hostel. Stayed there three times and loved it. It's very clean and in an excellent location. The Marquis de Sade is virtually around the corner and is a great place to drink in the evenings. There are several other bars and lots of restaurants in the area. I almost always go in December and I've never found it that quiet. January and February, yes, but it gets a fairly big Christmas crowd. Another good website to look at for hostels is www.hostelworld.com
