Auschwitz - end May (booking on website)

      Krakow May 15, 2013 at 8:41 PM

I booked for end May tour on the official website - Very weirdly I got an email back from the official website that I do not have to book the guided tour, upon asking, they say can enter Museum on our own before 10 AM or after 3 PM on our own.

I am confused as earlier forum responses and the official website did say to enter Auschwitz 1 during my travel dates I need to have book a tour / guide. Can someone please clarify because I only have 1 particular day to go to Auschwitz and want to ensure this is well planned ahead.

If I have to be there before 10 AM when do I start taking the bus there?

Let me know your views. Thanks!

In Warsaw - store for photographic needs

In Warsaw now, and looking for store specializing in photography, equipment and accessories. I do not mean something like "photo joker" but professional or semi-professional place. I want to check some cameras before purchasing one and to look for compatible filters. Probably place where one can give one's camera for repair.

The information in the ZTM website is as a follow: 3‐day City Travelcard entitles to unlimited number of journeys for three days from its validation until 23:59 of the last day.
      I don´t understand very well...

      Transportation

      Hel May 3, 2013 at 5:23 PM

Hi. I read your guys' transportation posts. I will be in Gdansk this summer, and wanted to take a day trip to Hel. I was originally thinking to take the train there, and take the ferry back, but now I'm thinking bus will be a better option, so I can stop places along the way, but I also don't know how often they run, and I don't wanna get stuck somewhere. Like I said, we're only going for a day trip, and I don't want to end up getting stuck somewhere, and not actually making it to Hel. I read it takes 2-3 hours to get out there by bus, and the same by ferry. That's a big chunk of the day. I'm not exactly sure where we'd be stopping, maybe Puck, Jastarnia, and maybe another town. I was thinking about leaving early like 6 or 7. Would that be enough to get there and back? I heard the last bus leaves at 4 PM. IDK how long we would be there for. What about the last train or ferry? I was thinking about finding a hotel for the night, but if it's not necessary, I'd rather avoid it. I also read that traffic is really bad, so should we take the bus one way, and return by ferry? I wanna at least go one way by bus or train, because I heard it's more scenic. Another option could also be take a train straight to Hel, and than stop in the other villages on the way back. What would you suggest? IDK why the last bus leaves so early. Would we have enough time to see everything in a day, and make it back to Gdansk before dark?

Apartment neat Main Square with 6 beds!!

      Krakow May 14, 2013 at 12:50 AM

I am trying to locate a large apartment near the main square, previously we stayed in the Rezysent hotel on Grodzka and the location was perfect. So far I have just been offered apartments with 3 beds to a room or multiple 2 bed apartments. We are 6 men in our 50s and I am over for my 50th Birthday. We dont mind paying a bit more for something good. All the ones on the Old Town apartment site that looked perfect have already gone!
      Any thoughts much appreciated.

      An afternoon/evening in Poznan

Dzien dobry, In late August I will be travelling back from Gdansk to Brussells and will have an afternoon and the early part of the evening on Monday the 30th August 2010 in Poznan (beween trains). I would like to see the great architecture, the goats striking the hour at the clock, have some good food and beer and perhaps go on a walking tour. I beleive the museums are unfortunately closed, but still look forward to seeing the city. I have also heard that a steam train runs between Poznan and Woltsyn but I will wait for another visit to see and ride on it. Although this is not my first visit to Poland it will be my first time to Poznan. Thank you (dziekuje bardzo)

      Accomodation in and around Poznan

by Swan7 Online Now Jan 5, 2009 at 8:17 AM

I am planning to visit the Poznan area in April/May on a "Polish Roots" trip. My grandfather, and ancestors going back to 1826, all lived in a small place about 30km north of Poznan, called Ciszkowo, and were baptised and married in the Parish church of Lubasz. I want to visit these places, but have some questions. 1) What is the best/cheapest way to get there from Warsaw? (I will be spending a few days there before going to Poznan area) 2) Are there hotels, or some kind of accomodation in either Ciszkowo or Lubasz?
