      Ljubljana May 25, 2013 at 1:33 PM

      Hi all,
Can someone tell me which is the cheapest mode of transport from Budapest to Ljubljana? I will be travelling in September.
      Also,
      1. Do I need to book train tickets in advance or is it ok if I book them on the same day?
      2. Can anyone provide me timings of the trains from Budapest – Zagreb?
      3. Approximate idea of how much would a one way ticket cost.
      4. Any other information that may be helpful

Thanks so much for all the help.

      Bled Jezero

      Bled Jun 1, 2013 at 12:55 PM

How far is Bled jezero station from the main tourist center of Bled? Are there any means to reach there or does one need to necessarily walk it up? I am intending to take an early morning train of 6.27 am to Nova gorica. Would it be possible with luggage?

      Please advise.

      Trains in Slovenia

      Slovenia Jun 1, 2013 at 6:07 AM

      Hello everyone,

Wanted one clarity regarding train travels in Slovenia. For a lot of destinations, I can see a layover at some station. For example, trains between Ljubljana and Bled halt at Jesenice. My question is does this involve a change of train? As in do I need to get off at Jesenice and take another train onward to Bled or wait in the same train which after a halt carries on to Bled?

Also, would it be difficult to travel by trains with luggage? Are they crowded?

Anything else I need to keep in mind?

      Thanks So much!!

      From Koper to Portorose

      Koper May 31, 2013 at 5:05 AM

We are going from Vienna to Portorose by train but the last station is Koper. I am sure there is a busline from Koper to Portorose but the problem is we have a small dog with us and in some countries pets are not allowed in busses.
So I need to know: are pets allowed in Slovenian busses and if not how much would a taxi ride more or less cost.

      Ljubljana - Skocjan - Trieste

Obcina Skocjan May 25, 2013 at 3:09 PM

      Hello,

I was planning to visit skocjan caves from Ljubljana by train and then continue by train from Divaca to Sezanna followed by a bus to Trieste. In this regard I had several queries.

      1. Is there a facility to keep our luggage safely at Divaca station while we go to explore the caves?
      2. How difficult is it to get a train from Divaca for Sezenna?
      3. How frequent are buses from Sezenna to Trieste?
      4. Approximate idea of cost for each ticket. that is Ljubljana - Divaca, Divaca - Sezenna and Sezenna - Trieste?

Any other suggestions are appreciated. My travel time would be in somewhere September.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

    • Travelling with a Baby

by rema84 Online Now Jul 22, 2009 at 11:00 PM

Hi, My family and I will be in Slovenia for a week and we want to see Ljubljana, Bled and Postojna. Could you advise whether it would be best to do day trips from Ljubljana or spend 2 days in each of these places. What would be the best way to get to these places? I have been reading up and it seems the bus is the best. We are travelling with a 4mth old baby as well. Would it be alright to take her to Postojna?

Venice to Postojna via train in a day...?

by XtravelloverX Online Now Feb 21, 2005 at 3:03 PM

Hi again, I went to http://www.trenitalia.com/ and found that a train runs at 9am, gets in to Postojna at noon, and a return train to Venice leaves at 5pm. So, this is about 4 hours or so to tour the caves and castle. Is this enough time? Is the train station in Postojna near the two sites? Also, I was not able to purchase the tickets online, would it be reasonable to purchase them the day of departure? Any idea how much the price is? Thanks again! :) Dawn

Or could we rent a car and go there and back in a day? Approximately, how long is the journey? Thanks, in advance. Happy travels, Dawn

    • Camping Postojna

by iglooo Online Now Jul 13, 2004 at 12:39 PM

Hi, I am intending to visit Postojna and am planning to camp at Pivka jame campsite. The only problem is I can't find any directions to it on there website. Does anyone know how to get there? Is it easy to find? Also am I likely to need to book, I have a very small 2 man tent with just me sleeping in it. I would also like to visit the Skocjan Caves as I have heard they are more interesting and less touristy than the Postojna ones. How would I get ther from Postojna? Is there anywhere near by to camp or anywhere cheap to stay (3500 SIT/£10/$19/15euro)? I don't mind walking up to 4 mile/6.5km for accomodation. Is there anything else in the area I should visit? (The Castle is already on my list) Thanks for any help, Lorna
