pompeii from naples or positano?

We are going from Rome to Positano for a two day stay. We would love to see Pompeii, but don't want to use up a whole day. Does it make more sense to go directly from Naples train station to Pompeii and then get a driver from the hotel to meet us at Pompeii? Do trains go from Naples to Pompeii? Or should we take a bus from Positano to Pompeii on our second day? I heard that you can store luggage at Pompeii...Any suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks!
