We are staying in Dover tonight. I thought we'd stop in Portsmouth for a history visit. I found the Strawberry Banke site but it doesn't open until May. Is it possible to walk around and check things out without the museum? Is there a guide or signs directing you like the freedom trail in Boston? Please advise us:)Any other help on what to do (historical)would be much appreciated!
I remember years ago visiting the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. There was a ship, a museum and a few other interesting items to see there. Weather permitting, a good hour or more can be spent enjoyably there for anyone interested in British Naval history. Checked it our on the internet and found this: http://www.historicdockyard.co.uk/ Have fun.
