    • Best place to park in Porto

      Porto Mar 22, 2015 at 7:49 AM

I'm travelling around Portugal this July and want to visit Porto. I'm going to be in my car, and have heard that parking and driving in Porto isn't that easy. I've looked in to parking on one of the streets near the main football stadium but am unsure if this is the best option? Are there any other alternatives that you recommend- I'm looking to spend probably the whole day in the city. Thanks

    • Boat trip options from Regua to Porto?

Peso da Régua Apr 7, 2015 at 10:33 PM

      Dear Sir/Madam,
As the organizer of a small family reunion trip (9 people; all around sixty years) I was thinking of planning a trip on Wednesday 22 April. Leaving Porto in the morning by train we would arrive late morning in Regua. We would like to travel back by boat - preferably a small /private boat - to Porto. Is this a good plan? What are the options and costs?
Your help would be very much appreciated. Kindest regard, Joseph.

      Cascais Mar 24, 2015 at 12:10 PM

We are considering a property near central Cascais for five nights in September, but it does not have parking. The owner says public parking is available all around the property. I'm a bit nervous about security and availability and cost too. Can someone please give me some advise? Thank you.

      Cabanas de Tavira

Ilha de Tavira Mar 23, 2015 at 7:01 AM

We're heading to Cabanas de Tavira for a week end of May and like to walk. I know that we can walk from there to Tavira. I'm wondering if there are any other coastal walks from Cabanas as we won't have a car. I know that at the end of ria Formosa just as it turns up onto ria Fortaleza there's what looks like a dirt track coastal walk through trees. Any one know if its a circular route back to Cabanas or of any other good walks locally?

Driving from Lisbon to Southern spain on a 9 days trip

      Lisbon Mar 29, 2015 at 8:53 AM

We are flying to Lisbon and intends to rent a car from Lisbon airport. After 3 days, we will drive to Seville, then to Cordoba,Granada and finally Malaga where we will fly off from Malaga airport.
      1) Will there be any difficult issues we would face if we rent a car from Lisbon to drive into Southern spain?
      2) Is it true that the toll charges in Portugal are very high?
      3) Any advice on hotels we should be staying if we are driving? Is it really very difficult to park if we intend to stay in the city center?
      4) Any recommendation of a reliable car rental company from Lisbon? Does the rented car come with GPS in English language?
Any other tips/advice on driving from Lisbon to Southern spain is much appreciated.

      Day trips in northern Portugal

      Portugal Mar 31, 2015 at 12:15 PM

We are planning a trip to Portugal. We will be in the Lisbon/Cascais for most of the time. But we do want to spend a few days in Northern Portugal also. If we decide to spend several days in Porto how easy or difficult will it be to take a day trip Viana do Castelo. We most likely will not be renting a car but want to use public transportation, either a train or a bus.

by abhi22 Online Now Jun 5, 2013 at 9:31 PM

We are going to travel with our baby to Porto soon. Was wondering if you get Pampers (for wt range involving baby around 8 kg), so I don't have to carry tons of them. We are going to be there for 10 days, so don't want to fill our bags with diapers

by DebEricson Online Now Jan 18, 2011 at 7:22 AM

My husband and I are going to be in Porto for a week in early May 2011 and would love to do a personalised tour of some of the wineries in the countryside. Alternatively a 3-4 night cruise where we get to visit some wineries as well would be great. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    • so much to see and so little time

by noquay Online Now May 17, 2008 at 9:16 AM

Thanks to those who responded to my first inquiry about going north or south. My colleague and I are heading north however I need some advice about the suggested iternerary below.
Arrive in Lisbon (Sat.) and take train to Coimbra, stay at Hotel Astoria.
Next day train up to Porto, find a day boat trip to Pinhao, try to stay at Vintage House Question: In case they are booked, are there other alternatives?
Take riverside train back to Porto on Monday (stay one night) Question: Should we try to make it up to the Minho area? We have to be back in Lisbon Tuesday night.
Your trusted travel advice is much appreciated.
