Evening in PE

I shall be in Port Elizabeth (SA) in last week of October. I shall have free time only in the evening (after 5 p.m.), Can you recommend what to do in the evening ..... shopping (where?), dining out (?), etc. Will it be safe to walk around streets till late night? What about the weather?

    Thanks a lot. Some more questions please. Can you recommend something special to buy from PE From where I can buy some gift items (local crafts etc.)at minimum price. thanks again
