A friend of mine in Providence, Rhode Island (USA) told me there is a non stop flight from either Boston or Providence to Ponta Delgada. I have not had much success locating flights to Sao Miguel. It is a 4 hour flight from the East Coast of the USA to Sao Miguel...yet I'm seeing flights from Boston to MUNICH (!!!), then to Lisbon, then to Sao Miguel. Does anyone know anything about the airlines that serve Sao Miguel? Thanks!
We will be taking a cruise in April and one of the stops in Ponta Delgada. Do we need to take a cruise side trip or are there many things to see close to where the ships dock?
We will be arriving on a cruise ship in early November with a ton of laundry. We would love to do it ourselves at a self serve laundromat while we enjoy an egg pastry and a cappucino at one of the many wonderful cafes. Is there a laundry near the port?
Arriving Sunday, October 30, 2011, from 10:00 to 18:00. I would prefer a quick visit to Sete Cidades for the scenery followed by a meal of local cuisine in Porta Delgada and then a little casual in-town pedestrian tourism, but I read that October weather is likely to obscure the views. I also read that most shops and restaurant are closed on Sunday. This is disappointing. Any suggestions?
We are coming on a cruise to Punta Delgada and were wondering if it is worth taking a tour or if we can see all that needs to be seen by taking a Taxi or just walking downtown.
We arrive by cruise ship and this is our first stop. We are taking a taxi tour with a small group and need to get Euros to pay for the tour. Is there an ATM right at the dock We do not want to ask to take time from tour to go to ATM, so hope there is an ATM as we get off the ship. Could someone please confirm where to find the nearesst ATM at the dock. Thank you for your help.
Arriving mid May, is there enough to do in Sao Miguel? Should we consider going anywhere else? Has anyone stayed at Quinta De Terca? Any other suggestions for a B&B?
Not sure how long we will be in port, but I need to find something to do and would prefer to use a local service rather than the one provided by the ship
What do you suggest for such a short time in port. We prefer not to book through the ship. Five hours Ponta Delgada Celebrity Cruise Solstice Lisbon 6 hrs Cadiz 7 hrs Malaga 10 hrs
How easy is it to get a taxi for sightseeing at the cruise ship arrival point? My husband and I would like to see as much as possible in very limited time. We arrive on September 30th at midday and depart again at 23.00hrs.What sort of price would we be looking at for per hour? Sylvia
Hello I have to choose between "residencialcasadojardim" and "residencial carvalho araujo"... Anyone had stayed in one of those??? And how much is a taxi jouney for 2 people plus baggage from airport to these Hotels?? Thanks in advance.
Are there any public tours on 4/24/09 for English speaking tourists?
We are in port for 1 day. What would you recommend we see?
Does the tourist trolley operate in late April? Sat. April 25, 2009 to be exact. We will be arriving on the Celebrity Constellation.
Hello...we'll be in Ponta Delgada next year on Nov. 1. Not only is it a Sunday, it's also All Saint's Day. Will anything be open...shops, markets, coffee shops, etc ? Thank you!
My husband is currently in Ponta Delgada on business and wants to watch the Manchester United match this afternoon. Are there any bars, etc... that show premiership games? Thanks
I'll be off to Ponta Delgada in a couple of weeks for a one week holiday. So if anyone should feel like giving me some useful last minute tips as what to do there this time of year, what to pack etc I'd be very grateful. =D
Can anyone suggest a cheap room in Ponta Delgada? We are two friends visiting the place next January.
Hello All, I'm hoping to spend a month on Flores and Corvo next summer, and I was wondering if there's a way of getting from Ponta Delgada to Flores by boat; I like to avoid planes whenever I can. Muito obrigado
My mother would like to get a copy of her birth certificate( She immigrated to Canada in early 60's) but we've been spinning around in circles trying to find out how to go about this. Does anyone know the phone # /address/website to get a birth certificate in Portugal? She was born in Sau Miguel (Santa Barbera if that helps) I would really appreciate any help Thanks :)
We, along with a small group of our friends, (2000!) will be arriving in your city, via a transatlantic cruise this spring. Our experience has shown us that we can accomplish twice the adventure of a ship excursion if we just follow the locals’ advice. 1. How far is the cruise ship dock from the center of the city? What forms of transportation are available? 2. Unfortunately our visit is short. What activities would you recommend to acquaint visitors with your city in hopes of possibly returning? Are there any daily local markets? What are some short sightseeing possibilities? 3. We would prefer not to return to the ship for lunch. Any recommendations for lunch with a local flair? Maybe some seafood. 4. And finally we shouldn’t return to the ship empty-handed. What local treasures must one purchase?
I know it's the off season but it's the best time for us to go ( won't be until next November 2006) are there boat tours/whale watching available at that time of year? I am so excited that we're going again! I love this island:)
Does anyone know the story behind the abandoned Hotel located right along the Sete Cidates hill? it's pretty creepy! I would have thought that this would be a thriving place to put a hotel due to the location.
Anyone ever stay there? just wondering if it's as nice as it looks on the picture online :) last time we stayed in PDG we stayed at the Bahia Palace..not bad but really really far from town.
Just curious, we are going to the island at the end of July (yay!) and was wondering if there are any malls/large grocery stores? my sister/family is coming along and she is concerned about finding milk, baby food, diapers for the babies. TIA :)
