Hello, we will soon visit Plovdiv and stay for about 2 days, then heading to Veliko Tarnovo, we have the following questions: 1) is it possible to visit Bachkovo Monatery and Dryanoro Monastery in the same day 2) how to get to Eastern Rhodopes? Any guided day trip for that? 3) bus schedule running from Plovdiv to Veliko Tranovo. Thank you very much.
I travelled by bus from Sofia -> Plovdiv -> Kazanluk -> Velio Turnovo -> Sofia. For all but the last trip I used regular buses. Be prepared for non-air conditioned buses that do *not* have windows that open. For the last trip, which was 3+ hours, I decided to use one of the private bus companies. WHAT a difference! I strongly suggest that you check them out too. For that trip I used the Grup Plus bus. They don't go to Plovdiv, but there are others that do. MTT is one of them: mttsofia.com/en/10/TravelPri... If it's September I'd leave booking anything until maybe August that way you'll get potentially good deals for good... more
